Father, bless.

Yes, many thanks, Fr Mark. That's what I was trying to say.

Also, I don't know why NZ named this thread what he did, as it isn't a discussion of 'my church'. I don't brag online about affiliations I don't have, nor do I claim to speak for any of the jurisdictions represented on this board.

Since Fr Mark has covered everything I wanted to cover, I will do as Liudmilla asked.

Father Bless!

Serge, I do not brag about being in ROAC online. In fact until you mentioned it the only people who knew here were a very few friends and a couple of Priests. Oh and NZ, by this I assume you mean me, did not name this thread. since when can simple, ordinary board members split a thread? it takes a moderator to do such and I think they as well felt the hijacking of the fatima thread to have been inapropriate.

Very good points Father Mark, which is why I intend to move closer to a parish as soon as possible.

Kissing your right hand Father,
Nicholas Zollars

Just one example, posted on this board Oct. 31 in the thread 'Hello I Am New':

also you can email me at roacnicholasii@yahoo.com

Good point - sorry! Whoever named the thread made a mistake.

Suggestion: refrain from posting again until you do move and actually worship regularly at a congregation of the church with which you identify yourself.

P.S. I don't know the modern Russian meaning, Liudmilla, but recognize the word оправдание from Slavonic prayers, variously translated as 'precept', 'commandment' (usually заповед in Slavonic) and 'statute'. A trip to a dictionary yielded 'justification' - implying 'self-righteousness? All I was trying to do was teach our young correspondent that his behaviour has spiritual and emotional consequences for himself and others, and that it's wrong to make such a game out of 'holy things' such as claimed church membership.

No where else before this forum - and very briefly on orthodox-tradition - have I found the "living room discussion" feel that characterized the early days of the ORTHODOX list. Savor it while you can because every free forum is soon found by those who wish to manipulate or dominate. May God protect this forum from the behind-the-scenes machinations so common elsewhere.

Thank you Father Mark. Manipulation will not be tolerated and I hope that we can keep that "living room discussion" feel, that so many people appreciate here at the Euphrosynos Cafe.

Hahaha. Living room discussion. If someone was in my living room and told me I was a graceless heretic whose prayers offend God and who is blinded by the evils of papism they would promptly be ejected from my house! No one talks like that in person hardly; the internet gives everyone a feeling of power and an ability to say whatever flies off the top of his head. :P

Disclaimer: Many older posts were made before my baptism and thus may not reflect an Orthodox point of view.
Please do not message me with questions about the forum or moderation requests. Jonathan Gress (jgress) will be able to assist you.
Please note that I do not subscribe to "Old Calendar Ecumenism" and believe that only the Synod of Archbishop Kallinikos is the canonical GOC of Greece. I do believe, however, that we can break down barriers and misunderstandings through prayer and discussion on forums such as this one.

Before you laugh to scorn, perhaps you should read the quote in the context of the preceding sentences:

"The dogmatic fervor with which it is so easy to post on the internet is due in large part to this same disconnectedness. No one would speak to each other in person as we sometimes do on this and other mailing lists."
