I recall he had some comments of how lowly he thought about TO Christians.

I found this but can't verify though this sounds like some ridiculous justification for their schism:

"I have a story from the life of the newly canonized St Cleopa of Sihastria. When Romanian switched to the New Calendar, St Cleopa was a young monk at the time. The monastery of Sihastria was, frankly, a bit scandalized by the move and the brotherhood was split on what to do. Some said to switch with the rest of the Romanian Church, but some wanted to stay on the Old Calendar to be like Jerusalem. The abbot, locked himself in his cell in prayer with instructions not to get him for three days. On the third day, the monks went in to get the abbot who told them that in the midst of his prayer for guidance, the Theotokos came to him. She reminded him that he is an abbot and responsible for the souls of the monks of the monastery and that going into schism would lead them to damnation. She also reminded him that they are in Romania, not Jerusalem, and that they need to be the monastic light for the people around them. With that, Sihastria switched to the New Calendar along with the rest of the Romanian Orthodox Church."

“Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom." -St Luke 12:32

He could have picked ANY wonderful recognized Saint, including St John Maximovitch and St Philaret - or two Saints - but he chose much lesser figures instead.

Eh...methinks none of the New Calendarists have canonised St. Philaret. Nor will they ever. They keep their followers--the conservative ones--by canonising as many neo-elders as possible as quickly as possible. The more neo-elders they can include, the more convincing they begin to sound because they have a Consensus Neopatrum.

It sounds literally the same as every other story they tell.

“The Holy Elder who had a vision and announced that you must stay with heretical bishops or you go to hell. No, not the pope, that one doesn't count.

You believe in Holy Elder, dontcha? We got feel-good emotional stories if you need to be reminded.”

Oh I just saw Nektarios' story. It had intervened without my catching it when I wrote "Unbelievable" because i clicked on the references in my profile, so i went directly to the earlier comment.

BUT - the tale NektariosLopez recounted is JUST as Unbelievable !!!

I wanted to mention this topic of converts like the Orthodox Ethos crowd who are unseasoned in spiritual ways. Their enthusiasm is admirable ut their discernment is at the zero level to believe these wild stories.

The Theotokos just doesn't appear to people, even monastics !

I personally have doubted the stories related in the book about Elder Jonah of Kiev, who founded the Holy Trinity Monastery there.
He was very experienced spiritually but the tales recounted just don't sound completely true to me.

If a clearly holy monk of the 19th century may have been deceived the devil as to purported appearances of Our Lady to him, HOW will modern Americans brought up in a secular environment, school system etc
be able to discern whether such a claim is TRUE ?

It takes faith to change one's religion to Orthodoxy. BUT - that faith may be being taken advantage of by charlatan type American "elders" who dish out a mixture of truth and garbage.

I thought it might be an idea for those of us active on the internet to post comments on places like twitter, facebook etc to alert unsuspecting people to the truth : this kind of manufactured account justifying New Calendar nonsense needs to be ignored and the alternative is True Orthodoxy. At the minimum, conservative World Orthodoxy [Rocor] to start out on a much HIGHER PATH that FEW Americans and Europeans following Fr Peter and his type would guess exists

Anyone have any ideas about the feasibility of such a plan to wake up the sleeping World Orthodox 'masses' ?

Oops I was correcting that post above when the server went out temporarily.

I'll put here extra paragraph i added at the end :

I'm referring here to comments not attacking the World Orthodox BUT politely demonstrating that some of the Orthodox Ethos and other teachings are leading susceptible people to very LOW spiritual paths instead of where they need and want to go : high ones !

Joking a bit, but one could post fun things like this
and THEN explain kindly but clearly
WHY the Orthodox Ethos party line is so LAUGHABLY wrong !

On twitter, of course, the clip will start playing by itself without the reader having to click on the link

I wish we could figure out a way for that to work here also, or like how the youtube videos show in the post.
But I guess only twitter is set up for that.
