Normally I would not cite members of my board on other boards but since Joe brought this up himself, I will post this.
Originally Joe wrote as part of a longer post:
"wow this really is interesting. an 80 some year old pole getting into a word game with a KGB agent masquerading as Patriarch. Very interesting.
My question is why not return it to metropolitan Valentine instead of the commie Church?"
One of OCnet's global moderators, David (OCA), edited this to read:

Yes it was good that it was not in Russia at the time of the Revolution or perhaps it would have been shot up just like the bodies of the great Royal Martyrs, bt at the same time it should simply be taken back (even just accompanied by a prelate to watch over it). No it should not be sent FedEx. how tasteless.
However I say we just let them figure it out on there own. Geesh don't any of us have anything better to do with our lives? I mean the cubs are playing in like 4 hours. don't you think its time for an Akathist?;)

I fixed your slanders, Joe. You may want to watch your tone in referring to ecclesiastical bodies you disagree with. It is just as easy for someone here to refer to ROCiE as prideful schismatics outside of the church who only want to stir up trouble. Of course you may express your viewpoint, but not in insulting hierarchs of The Church.

So what we had was 1) an insult on the Patriarchal Status of His Holiness Patriarch ALEXY and 2) an insult on the Moscow Patriarchate as the "commie Church."
While I am not exactly a big fan of Patriarch ALEXY I certainly think that it is rude to refer to Church hiearchs and Orthodox jurisdictions on an Orthodox forum in such a manner. As you can see, David meerly toned down the insulting phrases while allowing the message of Joe's post to go through. In other words, Joe is free to expound his message as long as he does it in a way that is not rude.
I once approximated Joe's error by raggin on ROAC to Juliana (but in that case it was all part of a humorous feud between us, and I did apologize and stop doing it). However, nowadays while I disagree with ROAC I would not run around calling it names.
And in case anyone wishes to turn this into a "you modernists are so judgmental" thread, please also note that I just spend two posts correcting a poster who called Met Cyprian "fanatical." As I have stated before, I am sympathetic to Old Calendarists but at the same time on OCnet we don't tolerate direct assaults on Orthodox hierarchs, even if they are suspicious.
