Another Prayer Request

Post by Justin Kissel »

I mentioned a couple months ago about Mary and I getting headaches and whatnot. It's gotten better for Mary. It got somewhat better for me for a while as well, but about 3-4 weeks ago the problems started up again. This time, though, in addition to head and neck pains, I also had muffled hearing and some other problems. So I went to the doctor. He cleaned me out, and said that it wasn't an inner ear infection (which I thought it might be). He said that it was probably due to stress, and that I was borderline as far as whether I had high blood pressure or not (he didn't want to say for certain since it was the first time I'd been there and he didn't know my history). I actually felt a bit better for a couple days after that visit. Then it started up again, this time with severe pains in my neck, head, and ear (all on the left side), and muffled hearing on both sides of my head. This has been coupled with intense, sharp pains in my head, constant tooth aches, my heart feeling funny, and a bunch of other things.

At this point, I'm at a crossroads and unsure what to do. I really don't have the money for another doctor visit--and even if I did, I wouldn't have money for any medication he'd tell me to take. I could go to the emergency room if I got really worried, but that seems like a very last resort. I'm hoping it's just blood pressure, that way I can change my lifestyle and diet and improve my health without worrying about medical bills. Still, I'm worried about it being an infection (or something worse), and letting it go on too long without having it treated. So... past prayers, can anyone give me some information? Does what I'm going through sound like high blood pressure/hypertension, or something more serious? It is perhaps a mixture (I do have a loose tooth that hurts, which may be helping to aggravate things)? I posted a question for the hypertension expert at WebMD, but still no response yet :-|

First, off I'm not a doctor.....

Now for the advise...

Some of what you discribe does sound like hi- blood pressure. If you can get/borrow one of those home monitoring machines I highly recommend it. Otherwise, there are machines at Wal-mart, K-Mart etc...by the prescription desks.. where you can measure your pressure. Avail yourself....it gives you a "history" of sorts.

If it is hi-blood pressure and you are border line....cut out salt...any and all.... eat foods cooked from scratch...avoid cold cuts, hot dogs and packaged foods, no soy sauce etc. --add more seasoning --as in the saltless variety, to cover the taste. Fear not you get used to it fast enough.

Leave a window open to your apartment at all times. And get a carbon tester.

The next thing I would advise is see if you need new glasses. An eye exam in wal-mart in NY runs $45.00 should be cheaper elsewhere. Your headaches may be coming from this.

Another thing that could be the problem is carpul tunnel. Alot of what you describe could be attributed to this. I went through this and it is a problem. I had two workman comp cases. Aaaaand you are on the computer a lot  . There are a great many things to help you alleviate this...too much to write here. If you are interested e-mail me and we'll talk.

Thank you, Liudmilla /\ You brought up a few things I'm going to try... and hopefully by that time I'll have a better idea as to what's going on. The RN (who was the expert I asked a question of) over at MedMD basically said to make another appt. with my doc asap. I think you may have hit on something too with the computer thing... I've been on a lot over the past few years...

Get well soon and go to a doctor. Cut down on starches and increase FRESH vegetables and fruits instead!

Have you've gone out out and gotten a job yet? If not do so soon so you can take care of yourself and MCK's medical problems, even if it's a horrible job you'd hate like a trashman or burgerfilpper you'll need tobe able to take care've your family!
