Encyclical of 1935 :

We counsel all those who follow the Orthodox festal calendar to have no spiritual communion with the schismatic church

, so much for attending world orthodox services. Spiritual communion is not limited to communion. Some, bishops in particular, should re-read the fundamental texts of their jurisdiction.

Priidite, poklonimsja i pripadem ko Hristu.

No one picked up on it?

If Father Deacon Joseph says that he is a drunk, then we are to say that we are worse sinners, far worse than a thief or a drunkard.

For example, we murder people with our hatred and the grudges that we bear. Lord have mercy.

However, we are neither heretics nor apostates. Nope. Spare us O Lord.

We are Christians in need of repentance. That is why we pray Typica because we must pray in order to remain firm in the Holy Faith.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.

I guess I didn't get the joke. I really liked your response Maria.

“Sometimes men are tested by pleasure, sometimes by distress or by physical suffering. By means of His prescriptions the Physician of souls administers the remedy according to the cause of the passions lying hidden in the soul.”

Should We Pray the Typika Daily When There’s No Divine Liturgy?

I’ve been thinking lately about the role of the Typika service in prayer lives, especially on days when the Divine Liturgy is not celebrated or when we’re unable to attend. As many strive to live more fully within the Liturgical rhythm of the Church, I wonder: Should we ideally be praying the Typika every day that there is no Divine Liturgy or we can't make it—weekdays, Saturdays, and throughout the entire year—as part of the regular cycle of prayer, the Liturgy of the Hours? Or, is the service of Typika only appointed for Sundays or feast-day Divine Liturgies that are unavailable to us?
