This will surely shock the socks off Julianna and OOD, but Holy Transfiguration Monastery(HOCNA) is down the road from my house...and you know what? I have a very nice relationship with a wonderful monk there, and visit when I can. As extreme as their ecclesiology is, my attending an OCA parish has never been an obstacle to their being very friendly, caring and hospitable people. This is especially true of one monk there. I don't agree with their positions, nor have I gotten to know their hierarchy... but some seem like very good people.
I've only been really "accosted" about being in the OCA once there, and that was by a lay person.

Still though, I think the good monks have been very, very misled.

You'd be better off visiting the GOC Church near you in Ipswich. 8)

Yea Josh,

I know what you meen. I have had nothing but wonderful expiriences there and met very wonderful people there too. Although I never got lectured for being in ROCOR, I did have priests refuse to give me a blessing, whatever that means. I stopped going when the accusations against Fr. Panteleimon became undeniable and I started comming into contact with people molested by him. I chose to deny that any Orthodox could do anything like that for a long time. I do think, like you said, there are many good monks there who don't know a thing about what Fr. Panteleimon has done, being naive enough (like me ) to think that such a kind and charismatic monk would never do anything like that.

In Christ,

Nicholas (Savva)

The Lamian GOC site went down over a month ago. I tried to contact the webmaster to no avail, so I think the site is down for good and this is now the only online list (that I know of) listing all their parishes in the United States of America!

"ROAC is the creation of former ROCOR bishop Valentine of Suzdal, who's been convicted of molesting young men in Russia. He has with him as co-bishops the former ROCOR hieromonk Anthony Grabbe, who stole millions of dollars from our mission in Jerusalem before being defrocked and who participated in the events which ended in Met. Vitaly living in Montreal, and the former ROCOR hieromonk Gregory Abu-Asali a jurisdiction-hopper."

Those roac people don't sound very Orthodox. I hope you are staying away from them Methodius!

That was just a cut and paste I had heard about them at that time. None of the above men have been in jail and if they stole or molested I am sure they would. From everything I have read I now believe the following:

When Father Valentin joined the ROCOR they investigated these claims that came to be after he left the MP to get people to leave them. They found the claims to be false and even made him a bishop! When Bishop Valentin created the ROAC after various things happened in ROCOR, including Kyprian communion the MP leveled the charges again after they got a former-ROAC priest to go MP. This is the same former priest that tells people to burn ROAC churches, monasteries, houses for the homeless & disabled, orphanages, etc. Now Metropolitan Valentin asked to be taken to court to prove the charges false.

The theft claims cannot be substantiated and no charges were ever filed. Ecumenists hate Grabbe.

Finally, Bishop Gregory grew up Antiochian and was related to the first Metropolitanin America of that church actually! He went to ROCOR at the lifting of the anathemas by the EP as he could not be in communion with the EP after this. He left ROCOR over Cyprian communion and joined the GOCs not knowing of ROAC. When he learned of the ROAC he asked for canonical release and joined ROAC.

I do not look at them as bad, evil, or heterodox, rather I look at the ecclesiology and wonder if ti is correct to be that extreme or to have the Kyprian ecclesiology that ROCOR has adopted.
