Hmmm. Yes, I think that I would go with that one. I mean, perhaps he was trying to poke fun at and even critique this fallen condition in youth. Satyr is a well-recognised form of critique and protest; however, it is also known that satyr is a literary device that can backfire on you. I would estimate that that has indeed happened here. Possibly because the youth are too far gone to "get it" that they are being made fun of here, and rather they are rejoicing in what they perceive is a cultural artifact that is, in fact, encouraging and supportive of their rude, obnoxious, and self-demeaning behaviours.
