Exhibition: The Russian Church and Soviet Power

Post by Despotovac »

"The Serbian True Orthodox" blog is posting exclusive photographs from the exhibition “The Russian Church and Soviet Power” held in Moscow in November and December of 2012 in the central state museum of Modern Russian History (the former Museum of the Revolution).

The exhibition was visited by and photographs taken by His Grace Bishop Akakije, whom we thank for the pictures and valuable explanation given.

Thank you for posting those pictures. I had always wondered what the persecuted Russians used in the Gulags for liturgical items. We have only heard stories, so it was nice to see.

I was really struck by the photo of the chalice-made-mug. They drank the cup of poison unto themselves, for they took what was Holy unworthily. The Atheist regime reaped what it sowed. Look where they are now.

For a mindset so stuck on empirical and thus solid evidence, they can find no proof that persecution nor murder will ever eliminate the "poison of religion". When did it ever work? It only fomented the fervor of the religious, and the witness of the Martyrs and their blood was like an acid eating away at the foundation of the atheist regime. So much time and energy was/is spent persecuting something they believe doesn't exist.

Glory to God in His Saints!

Truly, if the procession of the Holy Spirit from the Father is perfect, then that from the Son is superfluous.

What a sad and dark time for Russian Orthodox people. Glory to God that the atheists could not crush the True Church.

The photos are REALLY INTENSE.
I had to think about them for awhile before posting.

Beautifully translated ! The STOC has done a great job of presenting this moving exhibition
in such an easily comprehensible way. English speakers can easily take everything in,
whereas were it in Serbian, nearly all the impact would be lost. Or diminished while one
is trying to figure out what is what.

Also to publicize the relevant exhibits from the exhibition is wonderful.
I had NO idea it was even taking place.

Yes, this exhibit is awesome. It is sad that so much space is given to atheistic communism.

Yes, our Serbian TOC brothers and sisters are doing a good job. They provide a lot of great material and encouragement for the TOCs world-wide.

It is sad that so much attention and work gets awarded to communism. It is a beast that had a wounded head and appeared dead, but it rising up again even now, and frighteningly, even in North Amerika. As saint Ignaty of Harbin prophesied, "What began in Russian shall end in America."

Do you have a link or a book that contains this bolded quote? Thanks.
