Paradosis is correct. The icon corner should be facing east. Unfortunately, mine isn't facing east, due to the weird construction of my house. Also, from what I understand, it should be in the main family room of the house.

On the subject of photographs of saints, I saw a wonderful photograph of Saint John Maximovitch at St. Anthony's Monastery, and I really would like to get a copy somehow...any advice?

It's a picture of him in his middle years, and he's just beaming from behind that big, black mane of a beard and hear that he has :D It's really inspiring!

Natasha, from what I've heard from other Orthodox and from my GodMother, you should have your icon corner facing east but if it's not possible (like as you said...construction of your house...) then you can have it in another area...where there would be room for it....it's especially good to have it in the main room where everyone will see them....also you could have a smaller one in your bedroom for when you just want to pray in private and silence.

Forgive me if anything I said was wrong...if I missed something, please correct me.

That sounds correct to me. Actually, that is kind of what I have done...I have icons in every room of the house. I also try to make it a habit to carry small ones with me everywhere I go-whether they are in the pockets of my coat or in my purse.

I have seen many nice triangular shelves meant to go into icon corners in the past online, but I do not have any of the websites anymore. Can someone point me to a source to purchase such a shelf for my icon corner? Thanks!
