Does anybody know anything about the "RusNat" site they came from?

Theophan.

Word has it that they are as Katya has stated a white supremist group (ie Russian version of Nazi's) and that they proclaim to be affiliated with ROCOR (which apparently and obviously ROCOR would reject). This is only heresay, but apparently you can type in words such as "Russian Nationalist"
into the search engine on u tube and watch stuff about them.

As for the pictures - a lot of them were published in Ludmilla Perepelkina's book on Ecumenism (1990), which may lead to the assumption that they were pictures available to a general audience.[/quote]

Well, the Suprimist or Fascist only are not among those "right-wing" and "White", I think that there are many more than them among the red ones and pro MP. Even "Pamyat" got more support from the MP than from ROCOR (or FROC/ROAC)

And your point is? With out knowing any details about the event, I can summise the following:...1. It's not inside a church, more likely the church hall or even a neighboring building. 2. Based on the background pix they are probably honorinf men who gave they're all for fighting against their Nazi enemies (let's not forget they even sided with the Soviets against the Nazis. 3. Even our various countries honor and pray for our veternans.

So again, what is your point? Just because these men were in the soviet military? Even you could not possibly stoop so low.

It appeared to be celebrating not just Nationalism, but Communism in their trapeza hall with all the Communist propoganda posters in the background. Since Communism murdered more people that Nazism ever did and Communism purposefully targeted Orthodox Christians to murder, there is no way that I could ever view Nazism as less of an evil than Communism.

With respect to you, of course, and without presuming to speak on her behalf, I think that the point of Ekaterina's post (at least as I read it) was that, without knowing the situation it portrays, the nature of the event, or the location of the same, it is difficult for any of us to know what a photograph actually depicts and of what, if anything, it is a reflection.

Let us always be mindful of the need for openness and frankness but while we're doing that, let us not forget the necessity for truth in our openness and not assumption. I've done it too many times and so I know.

Hmmmmm....
Seriously, I'm beginning to wonder about the psychology of the opposition to the MP/ROCOR reunion, and I'm coming to the conclusion that what is behind it is McCarthyism.

What I have noticed is:

1) The most vocal opposition is coming from non-Russian converts in the Americas to ROCOR and groups which have splintered from it.

2) The language of their opposition is couched in terms which are strikingly McCarthyist, and always refer to the political issue of Communism and contains the same Red Scare beliefs of conspriracy and espionage ("Reds under the bed").

3) Communism is seen as the "ultimate" evil, and any evidence that other forms of totalitarianism are just as evil (eg the Nazi holocaust of the Jews) have to be denied or belittled.

So I'm coming to the conclusion that poor old ROCOR's woes in this can all be traced back to politically immature psyches which cannot shake of the McCarthyism which was so powerfully instilled into the collective consiousness of the US and Latin America.
