Dear Faithful,

Christ is Risen!

Vladyka is feeling much better now. I think the depression from the setback has passed. He is going to be taken up to his room this morning. Hopefully now intensive care unit is history. He is eating solid food and he is slowly gaining his strength.

In Christ,

+Bishop Gregory

I visited the Metropolitan today, he had just been transfered from the ICU to a private room and feels much better. He was very tired though and was resting comfortably. Although he is doing much better, he still needs lots of prayers as this is a process and as we have seen above there can be backslides in improvement. I also just want to thank everyone who is praying for the Metropolitan and to thank Juvenaly for posting all of the updates for us all.

Update #27

Post by Грешник »

Dear Faithful,

Christ is Risen!

I just came back from visiting Vladyka Metropolitan. Thank God, he is doing
well. Today he walked a lot, talked a lot, and the color of his face is
still very good. All his vital signs are very good. This means he is
fighting the infection very well.

Tomorrow they will be installing a catheder, which will enable him to be fed
with the antibiotics quite easily. They will keep Vladyka in the hospital
for one more day or so to observe how the catheder is healing and then he
will be released. He plans to stay in Colorado Springs at the home of Father
Dionysi.

In the meantime, the hospital on their own initiative, is trying to help
Vladyka with his digestive/urinary system, which they were told was giving
him a problem. This has nothing to do with his heart problem, but of their
own good will they are offering to help him.

Today he was visited by Sergei and Svetlana, who are a Ukrainian couple that
live in Colorado Springs. Svetlana works at the hospital. They brought
Vladyka some home made Russian food, which he enjoyed very much.

It looks like Vladyka may be released from the hospital on the feast of
Saint George, which was his nameday when he was a layman, St. Anatoly, who
martyred with St. George. We shall see. If not that day, then perhaps the
next day, which is his present name day for St. Valentine of Bulgaria.

We shall keep you all posted as major events occur in Vladyka's most
rewarding stay in Colorado. []:~)

In Christ,

+Bishop Gregory

Any update re Met. Valentine?

Post by хорист »

Other than the photo on Nicholas' blog, there has been no recent news on Met. Valentine's progress? Can anyone provide one? When will he head back to Russia? I hope that his situation continues to improve.

I am surprised that there is nary a mention of his ordeal or condition on the ROAC-Russia website.

Thanks!

PS Curious: Nicholas, why does your blog say, "Ya, Nikolas" in Russian when your name in Russian is actually "Nikolai"?

хорист, he continues to get better day by day and finally is taking the antibiotics as pills instead of intravenously. He still feels pain and is hoping to serve by Pentecost, but this will only happen with much prayer.

As for my blog, I just went and did a literal trans-literal translation, since the blog's name is I, Nicholas and not Nikolai. I have considered making it Ya Nikolai in the next version though.
