Welcome to the forum!

As a matter of conscience, I am wondering what an Orthodox believer should do if he or she is far remote from a Traditionalist Orthodox parish or Mission... move? Or wait for a ROAC mission to arrive? ... or just do the best with what is at hand, and trust in God? I am really struggling with this (and have been for some time), and would welcome any insights...

Well, being perhaps in just such a situation, I can tell you what the plans of my wife and I are. We plan on attending the closest Church that is a part of our jurisdiction for the next however many months. Then, as part of our contemplating a move to another jurisdiction, we will begin attending the other jurisdiction's closest Church to us about once a month, starting this summer (the closest Church is about 7 hours drive away, so we couldn't possibly do more than one weekend a month). We'll see where we go from there. And, if we change jurisdictions, we'll be changing addresses (and states) as well.

PS. I don't believe that Julianna has been around here for a few months, though she may return some day

Perhaps you should find the nearest ROCOR parish or mission. ROCOR is by far the largest truly traditional Orthodox jurisdiction. I see you are in North Carolina, so here are the contact information for the parishes there (taken off of hte directory located at www.sjkp.org):

I would also suggest speaking with one of the Priests as they may know of a family that also travels from your location (or nearby) to Liturgy.

Unfortunately size in no way indicates holiness nor truth. We saw this with the Arians in the 6th Century and with the Protestants today. If size is equal to holiness and truth then what would be the need for a Remnant in the end times?

umm, there are more Orthodox (or maybe same number as) there are Protestants so a better analogy would be with teh Papists.

I do agree that size has no bearing upon truth, and my mentioning that ROCOR was the largest traditionalist group was only to make the point that there is more likely to be a parish near him.

However with your post about the remnant in the end days, one must ask themselves the question, is a shcismatic sect headed by a deposed bishop and defrocked priests turned bishop the remnant or even a part thereunto.

also there is a ROCOR parish near Columbia, SC (which isn't far from the NC border).

There definately is a need for more traditional parishes in the South!!!

Yes, and perhaps all of these schismatic groups appearing are an example of part of the mass prophesied apostasy. I imagine in this grand falling away we will see people falling both to the left and right side of the proverbial cliff.

My dear Joe,

The MOSCOW PATRIARCHATE DEPOSED ALL of the ROCOR Hierarchy after its creation because they would not submit to Patriarch Sergius.

Since this is the group that your spiritual Father isa part of, and because this is the church and jurisdition that you attend by choice and free will is this by any chance the group that you refer to with deposed Bishops?
