Re: modernism / ecumenism

How can you recommend anything written by Hans Kung. He doesn't even believe in the Resurrection and doesn't agree with any Orthodox doctrine. Would you recommend a book by a Mormon or Muslim if it attacked the Catholic Church?

OrthodoxLearner,

Greetings! My advice to anyone interested in true Orthodoxy is to find

bishops and priests who stand for the truth without compromise. These

bishops and priests can be found in the ROAC without a doubt. They take

alot of flak from everyone, but after talking to them with an open mind

and heart you will see what I am talking about. After many years of

frustration in the confusing religious world in search of true

Christianity, I first crossed off all Protestantism as a contender due

to simple history. Its absolutely impossible for any Prostestant group

to be the true Church. That left Orthodoxy or Roman Catholicism. I

recommend Hans Kung's book "The Catholic Church" to finally dispel

any doubts that they are not the true church {along with many other

reasons}. That leaves Orthodoxy. I believe all "world" Orthodox

churches can be struck off the list due to Ecumenism, Masonry,

Modernism, trampling the canons, etc.... I used to be with the GOA but

even as a convert I was struck with their similarity with the world

Protestants. A GOA priest that was never baptized by triple

immersion told me personally that Buddhists would make it to heaven!

Anyway, call Bishop Gregory or Fr. George at their monastery and

and you will be impressed by their love for the lost and their logic.

P.S. This is how we can combat the world: band together with true

Orthodox and never give in to the world's ways , i.e. "the little

things". Hope this helps!

Yes, I was also warned against is work by a few Orthodox.
I'll stick with material from "Center of Traditionalist Orthodox Studies" and things printed by Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville.

Greetings,

If you guys will read the post, I recommended Kung's book as a

deterrant to becoming Roman Catholic. Also, since he is one of the authors

of Vatican II, his opinions will carry weight with those who are RC and

perhaps lead to them becoming Orthodox. :) Also, if you all will

study the Bible and Tradition of the Church ,you will see that the

true faith will dwindle in numbers toward the end of time. What did

our Lord say? Will He find the faith ?? So huge numbers are no

criterion of the true Faith. The opposite seems to be true. Orthodox

Learner is being deceived into world Orthodoxy. Large numbers but

no grace.

I apologize if I misunderstood you. Did you mean people should read his book to see how loony some Catholic theologians have become? Hans Kung had his teaching faculties taken away in any case, so I don't believe he could be considered a Roman Catholic theologian anymore.

Sometimes it is good to bring up the past and remember where we are and where we have gone from then.
