I imagine the new matyrs pray for the restoration of thier Russian Church.

Now I am trying to be very careful here, because I dont have an opinion of my own on this matter and I am not taking any kind of stance at this point because of my ignorence and immaturity.

My question is, under what circumstances, if any, would the various Traditionalist Churches accept that the Russian Orthodox Church could be, is being or has been re-established within Russia as a continuation of the Church that existed there before the communists?

What I find difficult to accept is the implied denial of the possibilty of authentic spiritual life (as experienced in the True Church of Christ and the Apostles and the Fathers) in Russia today that I assume follows on from some of the positions held by some of the people who post here.

My understanding of heresy is first and foremost to lead a false spiritual life. This understanding may be flawed.

Responses from all Churches represented by posters on this site would be appreciated and if my question is unclear I will try to think some more and clarify.

away,

They would have to break communion with "world Orthodoxy" as a very positive fisrt step. That by itself would be an act of repentance.

Neither is the "church" commissioned by Stalin a valid church simply because the soviet union has fallen. If this were the case, than the New Martyrs meant nothing.

Isn't America great? You can believe just about anything you want!
Why then was Met. Philaret calling certain members of the MP "wise and pious elders"? Why, if the MP is not a Church, were people coming from it into ROCOR not rebaptised? The situation is not as black and white as some would like it to be.

Peter,
The key word there is certain. I wouldn't go so far as to say that that necessarily means he thought the MP has a lawful heirarchy. And as to the second question, the only answer I can think of is: economy.

I caould say there are "wise and pious" elders in the State Church of Greece, I even have some in mind. And they would not be "Re-" recieved by ecomomy for sure.

Away,
I think that if the Catacomb church in Russia were to become the "official" church and be able to have total freedom(which could never happen since communism has not really fallen, the players have merely changed jerseys from red to blue) then there may be a good chance of union with all of ROCOR and the other groups that have broken away joining as well. That at this point is highly unlikely as it will take generations for Russia to cleanse itself form the filth it has lain in for the last 80 years.

Ive got some new, news.

I will be recieved into the Antiochian Orthodox Church, by the Holy
Mysteries of Initation. :D I'm so happy that I can be recieved correctly. I Orignally wanted to be recieved into Orthodoxy by ROCOR, but
My ROCOR Spiritual Father, said he wanted me to join the Antiochian Church and if I wish later in life I can move into ROCOR. The Antiochian Church is the closests and the Priest is very traditional.

In Christ
