Wladimir Sokolovsky and the Wisconsin Old Catholics under the leadership of the episcopus vagans (=Bishop errant) Joseph René Vilatte 1891-1892. Also here we are observing relations with "Old Catholics" and the hierarchy of the Russian Orthodox Church on the path of a true confession of faith.http://orthodoxhistory.org/tag/vladimir-sokolovsky/

Re: Wladimir Sokolovsky and the Old Catholics of Wisconsin
There was hope to create a Western Orthodox Church out of them and various High Church Anglicans and Lutherans, etc. Never panned out. Too many historical and personal issues intervened.
"The spouse of Christ cannot be adulterous, she is uncorrupted and pure, She knows one home; she guards with chaste modesty the sanctity of one couch. She keeps us for God. She appoints the sons whom she has born for the Kingdom. Whoever is separated from the Church and is joined to an adulteress is separated from the promises of the Church; nor can he who forsakes the Church of Christ attain to the rewards of Christ."
--St. Cyprian of Carthage, On The Unity of the Church (Chapter 6, ANF,V:423),
Re: Wladimir Sokolovsky and the Old Catholics of Wisconsin
How sad! After Bp Vladimir of San Francisco received him and his parish, he did this:
But the parish priest, Vilatte, wasn’t there. He was in Sri Lanka (Ceylon), awaiting his long-sought consecration to the episcopate. He had found a taker in the ancient Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church, the non-Chalcedonian church in India. Vilatte never seems to have considered himself to be a Malankara Syrian Orthodox; he was interested in their apostolic succession, not their actual Church.
