An Announcement
On Monday, May 30, 2011, Fr. Panagiotes Carras, Fr. Alexander Dizes, Fr. David Belden and Fr. Sergios Pellegrini of Toronto, Canada, were accepted into the Holy Synod of the True Orthodox Church of Greece. Later that week, Fr. George Kochergin of Boston was also accepted.
The five Presbyters of Toronto, in their petition to the Holy Synod of Archbishop Kallinikos, stated that, guided by the instruction of the Apostle Paul, a heretic man, after a first and second correction, abandon, and the injunction of the Fifteenth Canon of the First-Second Council of Constantinople, they had laboured against Metropolitan Ephraim’s teaching of posthumous enlightenment and salvation of heterodox and non-Christians, by admonishing the hierarchs, clergy and laity of HOCNA concerning the dangers of the above mentioned false teaching.
Since the hierarchs of HOCNA did not admit to their error and did not cease to preach the above mentioned heresy, the five presbyters then followed the admonitions of St. Paul and the First-Second Council of Constantinople and broke communion with these hierarchs.
Furthermore, they consciously realized that the Holy Church, shepherded by Archbishop Kallinikos, is the canonical Church of the Genuine Orthodox Christians of Greece. Their petition to be placed under their protection was accepted.
The Holy Synod of the Church of the True Orthodox Christians of Greece is made up of sixteen hierarchs. In Greece there are 130 clergy who serve 200 Churches and 80 Monasteries. In North America there are 19 Churches and 6 Monasteries, served by 27 Clergy.
There are also Churches, Clergy and Monasteries in Australia, Germany, England, Italy, Serbia, Rumania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Russia, Georgia and Bosnia.
In Christ,
+Fr. Panagiotes
