Corporate Media Censor Ron Paul's Debate Success

The resting place of threads that were very valid in 2004, but not so much in 2024. Basically this is a giant historical archive.

Corporate Media Censor Ron Paul's Debate Success
Establishment press ignore massive popular approval for Texas Congressman in every poll, ABC only add Paul to poll list after furious complaints
http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles/ma ... onpaul.htm

For whatever reason, the popular media does not seem to want an end to the Iraq war and Bush's interventionist policies.

Peace.

I was doing a bit of research... this caught my attention...

Ron Paul on the Record

Voted NO on making it a crime to harm a fetus during another crime. (Feb 2004)

Voted NO on federal crime to harm fetus while committing other crimes. (Apr 2001)

Voted NO on Constitutional Amendment banning same-sex marriage. (Sep 2004)

Voted NO on constitutional amendment prohibiting flag desecration. (Jun 2003)

Voted NO on subjecting federal employees to random drug tests. (Sep 1998)

Legalize medical marijuana. (Jul 2001)

Voted NO on allowing school prayer during the War on Terror. (Nov 2001)

Voted NO on establishing nationwide AMBER alert system for missing kids. (Apr 2003)

I think I will stick with my original linguistic equation:

Poli: Many
Tics: Blood sucking parasitic creatures.
End of story

As a true conservative, Ron Paul votes against any piece of legislation that isn't supported by the Constitution. Dr. Paul is opposed to abortion and homosexual marriage, but rightly believes that under the Tenth Amendment, these issues must be left to the states.

Abortion
An obstetrician by trade, Paul is pro-life. Paul holds that the United States Constitution does not grant the federal government any authority to legalize or ban abortion. He believes that his pro-life stance aligns with his libertarianism, by viewing abortion as aggression against a person. "Under the 9th and 10th amendments, all authority over matters not specifically addressed in the Constitution remains with state legislatures."[42] Nevertheless, in order to offset the effects of Roe v. Wade, he voted in favor of the federal Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003. He has also introduced H.R. 4379 that would prohibit the Supreme Court from ruling on issues relating to abortion, birth control, the definition of marriage and homosexuality and states that the court's precedent in these areas would no longer be binding.[43] He once said, “The best solution, of course, is not now available to us. That would be a Supreme Court that recognizes that for all criminal laws, the several states retain jurisdiction.”[44]

During a May 15, 2007 appearance on the Fox News talk show Hannity and Colmes, Ron Paul argued that his pro-life position was consistent with his libertarian values, asking, "If you can't protect life then how can you protect liberty?" Furthermore, Dr. Paul argued in this appearance that since he believes libertarians believe in non-aggression, libertarians should oppose abortion because abortion is "an act of aggression" against a fetus (which he believes to be alive, human, and possessing legal rights). He also briefly discussed his view of the proper role of the federal government and states in regulating abortion.[45]

homosexual Rights
Congressman Paul's position on homosexual marriage is that defining and recognizing marriages is not a Federal or constitutional matter, but should be left as the States' right.[47] In 1999 he voted for H.R. 2587 which contained an amendment that sought to prevent the use of federal funding for the promotion of adoptions of foster children being used to promote joint adoptions by unrelated, unmarried people. There was no mention of homosexual adoptions in the bill, but the amendment could have been construed to act negatively upon homosexual couples adopting children in the District of Columbia, and in any event was not present in the final bill.[48]

He voted against the Federal Marriage Amendment in 2004. In a 2004 speech before Congress he expressed support for the Federal Defense of Marriage Act and expressed his support for the Marriage Protection Act as an alternative to the FMA.[47] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_ ... f_Ron_Paul

Before waffling on the issue, it was George W. Bush who insisted that homosexual marriage is a matter of states' rights.

Peace.

Ok, so abortion aside, what of the bolded topics above? Do we likewise relegate those also to a states rights category. Please understand that I am not trying to fight with you or argue in the least, I am only trying to understand how a "Conservative politician" can have a voted for some of these issues the way that he did/has.
