GOD TESTING US

Post by ANGELA »

Can someone answer me why does God test us if He already knows what we choose?

Thankyou

Angela God is outside of space and time, God's mode of being isnt something we should try prying into otherwise we could go mad.

However we do know as the Apostle teaches that God is Love, and He created us in order to be Loved by Him and for us to love Him back in return.

Love however involves freedom- therefore....

Theophan.

There are a few words used to describe the way God works with us to help us gain the victory over the three sources of temptations, (the world, the demons, our passions). Perhaps it would help if we see God testing us as the equivalent of the trainer helping the weight-lifter by occasionally adding more weight to the bar. Does it hurt sometimes? Yes. Does it seem to be more difficult for awhile? Yes. Does the weight-lifter eventually get stronger and stronger? Yes. And we can also, if we patiently and prayerfully endure everything that comes our way each day for our salvation.

Angela,

He tests us so that we can excercise our free will. The process of salvation is not by God accepting us, but by us coming to accept God and His truth. How can we get entrance into His Kingdom, if we don't believe in Him?

And, it is also a means for God to show us our sins. To humble us. To make us aware of ourselves. To expose our sins to ourselves and come to repentance, where He will give us His Most Holy Body and Blood.

Because, only with humility can we come to salvation. Christ taught us what it means to be humble.

I'm still working on it....

Joanna

Joanna,
Although, I'm a realitivly new poster I wanted to thank you for your insight and your answer on this. As someone who also struggles, especially in this Great Lent, your words have proved some insight and to be helpful. Thank you.
