A Greek Catholic congregation in western Ukraine converted to Orthodoxy

Moscow, August 16, Interfax - A Greek Catholic parish of the Intercession of Our Lady in the village of Kontsovo, Uzhgorod district, has gone over to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

A spiritual leader and mentor of the parish archimandrite Grigory, who is a vicar abbot of a monastery in the USA, sent a petition to the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America Metropolitan Herman, Moscow Patriarchate official website reported on Wednesday.

Archimandrite Grigory and the brethren were accepted in the jurisdiction of the Orthodox Church in America, and he gave his blessing to his congregation in Ukraine to convert to Orthodoxy.

Thus a new Orthodox parish appeared in the Mukachevo diocese. All necessary papers have been drawn up recently.

While in Ukraine, archimandrite Grigory asked Bishop Agapit of Mukachevo and Uzhgorod, who currently exercises spiritual care for the parish of the Intercession, to pay a pastoral visit to the village of Kontsovo. Bishop Agapit celebrated his first Divine liturgy in the Intercession church on August 13.

If it's not, then the jurisdictional situation is even more messed up than I thought... :ohvey:

It seem, they have been received in the UOC-MP by request of the OCA

Greek Catholic Parish in Transcarpathia Joins Orthodox Church in
America
25.08.2006, [11:11] // Orthodox //

Moscow - The Greek Catholic parish of the Protection of the Mother of
God in the southwestern Ukrainian village of Kontsovo, Uzhhorod
District, Transcarpathia Region, has been accepted into the
jurisdiction of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA). interfax-
religion.com posted the news on 16 August 2006.

The spiritual leader and mentor of the parish, Archimandrite
Hryhorii, who is abbot of a monastery in the USA, had sent a petition
to Metropolitan Herman, head of the OCA. The archimandrite and the
parish were accepted into the jurisdiction of the OCA
, and the
metropolitan gave his blessing to the congregation in Ukraine to
convert to Orthodoxy. Thus a new Orthodox parish has appeared in the
Mukachevo eparchy. All the necessary papers were drawn up recently.

While in Ukraine, Archimandrite Hryhorii asked Bishop Ahapyt of
Mukachevo and Uzhhorod, who currently exercises spiritual care for
the parish of the Protection, to pay a pastoral visit to the village
of Kontsovo. Bishop Ahapyt celebrated his first Divine liturgy at the
Protection Church on 13 August.

Ok, it is very strange... or it will be a OCA Metochion in Ukraine... Well, anyway, they also have parishes in Australia and they have had in South America in a clear contradiction to its " MP Tomos"
