On July 18/31, the new calendarist Metropolitan Paisios of Kalymnos
and some of his clergy and parishioners invaded an Old Calendarist church while the Old Calendarist Bishop Photius of Marathon was presiding. Bishop Photius was taken by the chief of police to the local police station, where he was soon released without explanation. Meanwhile, his priest continued to serve the liturgy in spite of severe provocation. When Bishop Photius returned he found that the new calendarist metropolitan had seized his episcopal throne. Fortunately, the attempt of the new calendarists to seize the church with the aid of the chief of police failed, and the liturgy was completed as the canons decree. Protests are being sent to various state organs.

         On Monday July 18/31, 2006 at 6:00 in the morning our nation saw a violation of the Constitution as well as of religious and individual freedoms perpetrated by State organs that are supposed to ensure legality.

         At a time when Greece, "faithful to its European obligations", is building an Islamic Temple in Athens, the Metropolitan of Kalymnos, of the jurisdiction of Ecumenical Patriarchate, with the connivance of the Greek Police, invaded a privately owned church that is served by clergymen of the Church of the Genuine Orthodox Christians of Greece, requiring the cessation of the Divine Liturgy and the surrender of the church’s keys!

The incident took place in the following manner:

         On Monday July 18/31, 2006 at 6:00 a.m., a multitude of patrolmen from the Police Department of Kalymnos led His Grace Bishop Photios of Marathon to the Police Department just at the moment when His Grace had entered the privately owned church. Permission had been granted for the Liturgy to take place by the owners of the church who are under the spiritual jurisdiction of the Church of the G.O.C. of Greece. The command that the police officers had from their Governor was to confiscate the keys of church and to ask the liturgist (Bishop Photios) to follow them "willingly, so as not to find themselves in a difficult position and do things that they do not want to do". His Grace refused to give up the keys. Meanwhile, despite the agitation that prevented His Grace from liturgizing, the Liturgy was begun by the priest of our Church, who in the meantime had arrived at the church with a few faithful. Then, since the service was not hindered from commencing, a command was given by phone for a police officer to remain in the church while another one forcibly led His Grace to the Department "because the Police Chief wanted to speak with him”. There he was kept illegally, although he protested against the manner of his being led to the Department and his detention there.

         At the Police Department, the Bishop waited for the Police Chief to explain to him the reason of his detainment, which never happened. Meanwhile all the police officers of Department were ordered to return to the church, leaving in the Department only one officer with Bishop Photios! Two hours later, our Bishop was set free (through intervention) without being given the least explanation!

         When the Bishop went back to the church, he realized that the church was guarded by a police force, the Liturgy had continued and that the local New Calendar Metropolitan Paisios with his priest had literally invaded the church. Seeing Bishop Photios ready to mount the throne and preside, Metropolitan Paisios hurriedly occupied the episcopal throne of the church himself! Previously, Metropolitan Paisios had entered into the Holy Altar and assaulted the liturgizing priest. His Grace Bishop Photios called the intruders to come out of the church, so that the Divine Liturgy could continue smoothly. However, they stubbornly refused. Since it was not possible to interrupt the Divine Liturgy, the liturgizing priest and His Grace were forced to remain in the church under these unfavorable conditions in order that the performance of the mystery be completed. And so Metropolitan Paisios continued uttering threats while His Grace finally presided from the neighbouring throne, having next to him Metropolitan Paisios who had seized the throne!

         Imagine the faithful going to the church in order to attend services and seeing an angry clergyman invading their church and demanding the cessation of the Divine Liturgy, thereby imposing his sovereignty! The intruder was not intimidated by the scorn of the faithful in attendance who kissed only the hand of His Grace Bishop Photios.

         Things became still more dangerous, when, after the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Metropolitan, together with the Chief of Police who simply followed the proceedings, required from faithful, with shouts and threats, that they give him the keys of the church! In fact, Metropolitan Paisios violently extracted a camera from the hands of a woman present (who wanted to take a photogaph of him while rampaging) and broke it. Simultaneously, the Chief of Police also asked for the key of the church "in order to stop the quarrel". The key of the privately owned church naturally was given neither to the Chief of Police, nor to Metropolitan Paisios. However Metropolitan Paisios resorted to ringing the bells as a danger signal, so that the clergy and the small number of laity who were partisans of his, after causing a disturbance with vituperations and altercations, again entered the church and performed a Holy Water service and a Supplicatory Canon. Finally the privately owned church was locked by a member of the founding family, who were also the legal holders of the keys which the Metropolitan and his coadjutant, the Chief of Police, illegally demanded. It should be noted that His Grace has liturgized in this same church in the past with no problem. The problem was created now by the above actions of Metropolitan Paisios.

         We wonder, what was the crime of the faithful who follow the Patristic calendar on Kalymnos so that they suffered this uncalled for and humiliating attack? Since when does each Metropolitan have the right to enter the private churches of other Ecclesiastical jurisdictions seeking to impose his will? Since when have the law enforcement authorities been changed from forces that protect all citizens to the forces of each Metropolitan that help him to trespass on private property? When will some people learn that religious freedom prevails in our country, the exercise of which should not be impeded by anyone?

         Aside from the what opinion each believer may have regarding other Churches, aside from whether we agree or disagree with their opinions, it is a holy and imperative duty that we attend to the observation of legal order and the right of each citizen to believe and to express his faith in whatever way he wishes, within the framework of legality.

         Metropolitan Paisios of the Ecumenical Patriarchate wishes to deprive the few residents of Kalymnos that follow the Patristic - Old calendar of the right freely to exercise their religious duties, imposing his tyrannical fury in an unacceptable and unlawful way.

         It is exceptionally deplorable that a Hierarch should be forcibly led by a Police force from the holy place of the performance of the Divine Liturgy to the Police Department because he had arrived in order to serve the Divine Liturgy, serving the religious needs of the faithful. It is tragic for the Greece of 2006 that we are living through such times.

         We denounce the Chief of the Police Department of Kalymnos for his above-mentioned illegal behavior which is aimed at making him appear agreeable to the Metropolitan, but also the Metropolitan for the disturbance he deliberately created in our religious community. It is noteworthy that the Metropolitan Paisios impudently confessed his collaboration with the police Chief in the forcible leading away and detention of His Grace Bishop Photios, as well as most of what we have written above, in his television interview with the journalist Ms. Evi Voui of the local television station TV12 that was broadcast yesterday and today.

         The Church of the Genuine Orthodox Christians of Greece asks for your protection and it addresses a call to all to protect the individual and religious rights and freedoms of the citizens who follow the Patristic calendar.

I was talking to someone who was in contact with Bp. Photios about this. The big question I had was "why?"

In the 1930s, the local new calendarist bishop was also a "police chief", along side the real chief of police. If the "bishop" decided to, he could issue orders and the police would have to listen, even if the real chief of police disagreed. This is how much of the persecutions in the early part of last century happened.

Well, things have changed a little since then, but only a little. the local new calendarist bishop is no longer considered a "chief of police", but he has allot of influence - especially on the islands. Apparently, this new calendarist bishop had a power trip, maybe something rubbed him the wrong way.

The people in Greece really don't care about "human rights" and such, they only care about their image that they support "human rights" to the rest of the world.

Well, this also happens in the South American countries and others, or even worse, the associations and people of "human rights" only have a point of view "leftist", and this way they intervene in some sectors like being defending the human rights of the criminals, but they it seem do not do any thing when some policeman is hit or murdered.

Καταπάτηση των θρησκευτικών και ατομικών ελευθεριών Ελλήνων Πολιτών που ακολουθούν το Πάτριο – Παλαιό Εορτολόγιο.

Την Δευτέρα 18/31-7-2006 στις 06:00 το πρωί η χώρα μας, έζησε στιγμές καταπάτησης του Συντάγματος και των θρησκευτικών και ατομικών ελευθεριών, από τα όργανα του Κράτους που υποτίθεται πως διασφαλίζουν τη νομιμότητα.

Την ώρα που η Ελλάδα «πιστή στις ευρωπαϊκές της υποχρεώσεις» χτίζει στην Αθήνα Ισλαμικό Τέμενος, ο Μητροπολίτης Καλύμνου, της δικαιοδοσίας του Οικουμενικού Πατριαρχείου, με την ανοχή της ΕΛ.ΑΣ., εισέβαλε σε Ναό, ο οποίος εξυπηρετείται από κληρικούς της Εκκλησίας Γ.Ο.Χ. Ελλάδος, απαιτώντας την παύση της Θείας Λειτουργίας και την παράδοση των κλειδιών του Ναού!

Το ακριβές συμβάν έχει ως εξής:

Την Δευτέρα 18/31-7-2006 στις 06:00, πλήρωμα περιπολικού του Αστυνομικού Τμήματος Καλύμνου προσήγαγε στο Αστυνομικό Τμήμα, τον Θεοφιλέστατο Επίσκοπο Γ.Ο.Χ. Μαραθώνος κ. Φώτιο, τη στιγμή που μόλις είχε εισέλθει σε ιδιωτικό Ιερό Ναό, τη λειτουργία του οποίου είχαν παραχωρήσει οι ιδιοκτήτες στην πνευματική δικαιοδοσία της Εκκλησίας Γ.Ο.Χ. Ελλάδος, προκειμένου να τελέσει τη Θεία Λειτουργία. Η εντολή που είχαν οι αστυνομικοί από τον Διοικητή τους ήταν να κατασχέσουν τα κλειδιά του Ναού και να ζητήσουν από τον λειτουργό που θα πήγαινε στον ναό να τους ακολουθήσει «οικειοθελώς, προκειμένου να μη βρεθούν στη δύσκολη θέση να κάνουν πράγματα που δεν επιθυμούσαν». Ο Θεοφιλέστατος αρνήθηκε να παραδώσει τα κλειδιά. Εν τω μεταξύ, παρά την αναταραχή, η οποία εμπόδισε τον Θεοφιλέστατο να μετάσχει στην τέλεση της λειτουργίας, αυτή άρχισε να τελείται από ιερέα της Εκκλησίας μας, ο οποίος εν τω μεταξύ είχε καταφθάσει στο Ναό με λίγους πιστούς. Τότε δεδομένου ότι δεν απετράπη το να ξεκινήσει η ακολουθία, δόθηκε τηλεφωνικώς εντολή να παραμείνει ο ένας αστυνομικός στον ναό και ο άλλος οδήγησε αναγκαστικά με το περιπολικό τον Θεοφιλέστατο στο Τμήμα «γιατί ήθελε να του μιλήσει ο κ. Διοικητής», όπου κρατήθηκε παράνομα επί δίωρο, καίτοι αυτός διαμαρτυρόταν για τον τρόπο της προσαγωγής του στο Τμήμα και της εκεί κρατήσεώς του.

Στο Αστυνομικό Τμήμα ο Επίσκοπος περίμενε τον Διοικητή για να του εξηγήσει το λόγο της κρατησής του, κάτι το οποίο δεν συνέβη ποτέ. Εν τω μεταξύ όλοι οι αστυνομικοί του Τμήματος διετάχθησαν να μεταβούν στον Ναό, αφήνοντας στο Τμήμα μόνον έναν μαζί με τον Θεοφιλέστατο κ. Φώτιο. Ο Επίσκοπός μας δύο ώρες αργότερα αφέθηκε ελεύθερος (έπειτα από παρεμβάσεις) χωρίς να δοθεί η παραμικρή εξήγηση!

Όταν ο Επίσκοπος πήγε ξανά στον Ιερό Ναό διαπίστωσε πως, ο ναός φυλασσόταν από αστυνομική δύναμη, η λειτουργία είχε προχωρήσει και ότι ο επιχώριος Μητροπολίτης του Νέου Ημερολογίου κ. Παΐσιος με έναν ιερέα του είχε εισβάλει κυριολεκτικά στο Ναό και, βλέποντας τον Θεοφιλέστατο έτοιμο να ανέλθει στον θρόνο και να χοροστατήσει, έσπευσε και κατέλαβε εκείνος τον επισκοπικό θρόνο του Ναού! Προηγουμένως, είχε εισέλθει στο άγιο βήμα και χειροδίκησε κατά του λειτουργούντα ιερέα. Ο Θεοφιλέστατος Επίσκόπος κ. Φώτιος κάλεσε τους εισβολείς να εξέλθουν του ναού, ώστε να συνεχισθεί απρόσκοπτα η θεία λειτουργία, όμως πεισματικά αρνήθηκαν. Επειδή δεν ήταν δυνατόν να διακοπεί η θεία λειτουργία, αναγκάσθηκε ο λειτουργός ιερεύς και Θεοφιλέστατος να παραμείνουν στο ναό για να ολοκληρωθεί η τέλεση του μυστηρίου, υπ’ αυτές τις δυσμενείς συνθήκες. Έτσι ο κ. Παΐσιος παρέμεινε ξεστομίζοντας απειλές και ο Θεοφιλέστατος τελικώς χοροστάτησε από το παραθρόνιο, έχοντας δίπλα του «γαντζωμένο» στον θρόνο το Μητροπολίτη κ. Παΐσιο!

Φανταστείτε τους πιστούς που πήγαν στο Ναό για να εκκλησιαστούν να βλέπουν έντρομοι έναν οργισμένο κληρικό να έχει εισβάλει στο Ναό τους και με φωνές να απαιτεί να σταματήσει η Θεία Λειτουργία, αλλά και να απαιτεί με το «έτσι θέλω» να επιβάλει την κυριαρχία του! Ο καταληψίας δεν πτοήθηκε ούτε από την περιφρόνηση των παρισταμένων πιστών που όλοι κατευθύνθηκαν και ασπάσθηκαν το χέρι μόνον του Θεοφιλεστάτου.

Τα πράγματα έγιναν ακόμη πιο επικίνδυνα, όταν, μετά το τέλος της Θ. Λειτουργίας ο Μητροπολίτης, παρουσία του Διοικητή του Αστυνομικού Τμήματος, ο οποίος απλά παρακολουθούσε, απαιτούσε από τους πιστούς, με φωνές και απειλές να του δοθεί το κλειδί του Ναού! Ο Μητροπολίτης Παΐσιος μάλιστα απέσπασε βίαια την φωτογραφική μηχανή από τα χέρια μιας πιστής που προσπάθησε να τον αποθανατίση ωρυόμενο και την έθραυσε! Ταυτόχρονα, ο κ. Διοικητής ζητούσε και εκείνος το κλειδί του Ναού «για να παύσει η φιλονικία». Το κλειδί του ιδιόκτητου Ναού όπως ήταν φυσικό δεν δόθηκε ούτε στον Διοικητή, ούτε στον Επίσκοπο κ. Παΐσιο. Ωστόσο ο τελευταίος κατέφυγε στο μέσο να κτυπήσει τις καμπάνες με σήμα κινδύνου, οπότε κατέφθασαν κληρικοί και λίγοι λαϊκοί οπαδοί του, οι οποίοι αφού προκάλεσαν ταραχή με υβρεις και διαπληκτισμούς, εισέβαλαν ξανά στο Ναό τελώντας ακολουθία παρακλήσεως και αγιασμού. Τελικώς ο ιδιόκτητος Ναός εκλείσθη από μέλος της οικογένειας των κτιτόρων, οι οποίοι είναι και οι νόμιμοι κάτοχοι των κλειδιών που παρανόμως απαιτούσε ο Μητροπολίτης και ο συνεπίκουρός του Διοικητής. Θα πρέπει να σημειωθεί ότι στο ίδιο ναό ο Θεοφιλέστατος είχε ξαναλειτουργήσει κατά το παρελθόν δίχως κανένα πρόβλημα. Το πρόβλημα δημηιουργήθηκε τώρα από τις πιο πάνω ενέργειες του Επισκόπου κ. Παϊσίου.

Αναρωτιόμαστε, ποιό ήταν το σφάλμα των πιστών που ακολουθούν το πάτριο εορτολόγιο στο νησί και δέχθηκαν αυτήν την απρόκλητη και ταπεινωτική επίθεση; Από πότε ο κάθε Μητροπολίτης έχει δικαίωμα να εισβάλει σε ιδιωτικούς Ναούς άλλων Εκκλησιαστικών δικαιοδοσιών επιδιώκοντας να επιβάλει την θέλησή του; Από πότε οι αστυνομικές αρχές από όργανα προστασίας όλων των πολιτών, μετατρέπονται σε όργανα του κάθε Μητροπολίτη τον οποίο μάλιστα συνεπικουρούν στην καταπάτηση ξένης ιδιοκτησίας; Πότε κάποιοι θα καταλάβουν πως στη χώρα μας επικρατεί θρησκευτική ελευθερία, η άσκηση της οποίας δεν πρέπει να παρακωλύεται από κανέναν;

Κυρίες, Κύριοι,

Ανεξάρτητα από το ποιά είναι η άποψη του καθενός για τους πιστούς άλλων Εκκλησιών, ανεξάρτητα από το αν συμφωνούμε η διαφωνούμε με τις απόψεις τους, καθήκον ιερό και επιτακτικό είναι να φροντίζουμε για την τήρηση της έννομης τάξης και του δικαιώματος του κάθε πολίτη να πιστεύει και να εκφράζει την πίστη του, με όποιον ακριβώς τρόπο επιθυμεί, στο πλαίσιο πάντοτε της νομιμότητας.

Ο Μητροπολίτης Παΐσιος του Οικουμενικού Πατριαρχείου, επιθυμεί να στερήσει από τους λιγοστούς κατοίκους της Καλύμνου που ακολουθούν το πάτριο – παλαιό εορτολόγιο το δικαίωμα της ελεύθερης ασκήσεως των θρησκευτικών τους καθηκόντων, επιβάλλοντάς με τρόπο απαράδεκτο και παράνομο τη δεσποτοκρατική του μανία.

Είναι εξαιρετικά λυπηρό το να οδηγείται ένας Ιεράρχης αναγκαστικά και με περιπολικό της αστυνομίας και συνοδία αστυνομικών οργάνων, από τον ιερό τόπο τελέσεως της λειτουργίας στο Αστυνομικό Τμήμα επειδή είχε προσέλθει για να τελέσει τη Θεία Λειτουργία, εξυπηρετώντας τις λατρευτικές ανάγκες των πιστών. Είναι τραγικό για την Ελλάδα του 2006 να ζούμε τέτοιες στιγμές.

Καταγγέλλουμε τον Διοικητή του Αστυνομικού Τμήματος Καλύμνου για την προαναφερθείσα παράνομη συμπεριφορά του προκειμένου να φανεί αρεστός στον Μητροπολίτη, αλλά και τον Μητροπολίτη για την σκόπιμη διατάραξη της θρησκευτικής μας συναθροίσεως. Σημειωτέον ότι ο Μητροπολίτης κ. Παΐσιος ομολόγησε ανερυθριάστως την συνεργασία του με τον κ. Διοικητή για την αναγκαστική προσαγωγή και κατακράτηση του Θεοφιλεστάτου, καθώς και τα περισσότερα από τα όσα προαναφέραμε, σε τηλεοπτική του συνέντευξη στην δημοσιογράφο κ. Εύη Βούη του τοπικού τηλεοπτικού σταθμού TV12 που μεταδόθηκε κατ’ επανάληψιν χθες και σήμερα.

Η Εκκλησία Γ.Ο.Χ. Ελλάδος, ζητά την προστασία σας και απευθύνει έκκληση προς κάθε κατεύθυνση, για την προστασία των ατομικών και θρησκευτικών δικαιωμάτων και ελευθεριών των πολιτών που ακολουθούν το πάτριο εορτολόγιο.
