What is Orthodoxy's position on Civil Marriage for an Orthodox Christian if Orthodox Marriage isnt possiable at the time?

Anastasios is right. Marriage is a mystery. So is Baptism. So just like how there is no Baptism outside the Church, neither is there Marriage.

It depends also on the legislation in your country. For instance, in France, the religious wedding can only take place if the civil wedding was celebrated previously. Otherwise, it is a infraction and the people face trial. The state does not recognize religious weddings... The priest must ask a proof the people were married in front of the mayor
