The star

A friend of mine heard this on a Greek speaking radio station that he gets through the internet.

Apparently there is a monestary outside of Bethlehem at the town of the shepherds. It was here that the shepherds were told to go to Bethlehem.

When the current Archimandite Elder came to this place in 1992, he was serving Christmas liturgy and they were on their way to Bethlehem when the Bishop asked him to go back to the church and altar to retrieve something. When he opened the door of the church, he saw a very bright light hanging above the altar. He was petrifide.

He gathered his thoughts, approached to do his job, and noticed the cross blazing in the middle of the light above the altar - suspended in mid-air. He the returned to the Bishops.

The Bishop asked him why he was so late. He explained about the light above the altar. The Bishop smiled - this happens every year!
