Really, the Ecumenism is more and more strengthened

Well I do not know. It seems to me that an organization like the WCC is losing its weigh. Two orthodox churches withdrew from it... What I fear is the growing importance of bilateral relations with catholics. It seems that Benedict XVI is launching an offesnive towards Orthodx in order to form a coalition against secularism...

I fear that some orthdox churces will answer positvely : the MP is giving positive signs, the Pahanar is always fond of kissing catholics...

Priidite, poklonimsja i pripadem ko Hristu.

I think that the Ecumenim is growing although WCC´s influence WCC is diminishing, simply because ecumenist ideas are already embedded in many Christian leaders and now the excuse for the "union of the Christian" is quick growth of Islam. Then for many ones Ecumenism is becoming the "solution" against the problem of the Islam. The question is: should a wrong be solved with another wrong?

Ecumenism..........

Post by DavidHawthorne »

Christ is Among Us!

Code: Select all

My feeling is that ecumenism as an organized movement with an agenda is losing steam simply because the more bland the WCC and NCC make the Christian message the less anyone sees a need to be involved in church at all. For these organizations, social activism that often compromises historic Christian values seems more important than any actual "super-church" type of unity. Passive ecumenism however is increasing in the sense of most heterodox I know are a hodge-podge of denominational (and self-made) ideas and rarely attend any church services.

ECUMENISM...

Post by Kollyvas »

In general, it's mutating, pushing it's agenda by buying off the opposition or pulling political strings ala the ep and the MP...It's becoming more insidious and powerful. A great example is how an "ecumenical" publishing house bought the publishing rights to the collected works of Fr. Florovsky, bumped up the price to $99.00 a volume, then went bankrupt holding the copyrights---Orthodoxy is just too dangerous for ecumenism....another example is that the wcc gives $2 M + every year to Synod--wonder why MP union is being pushed the way it is?!

Not only is it increasing, it is taking on concrete forms of mutual recognition: The EP and others recently signing documents recognizing Luthern "baptisms", they recognize many other "baptisms" as real Baptisms, they recognize heretic marriages, ect. The list is long.

You could hardly find a regular layman or priest in "World 'Orthodoxy'" today who does not believe these heretics have some level of real "Sacraments".

Take a big whiff, this is REAL ecumenism, all that stuff at the WCC is just pomp.

"Sacraments"

Post by Kollyvas »

I would state the reverse and say you could hardly find a layman or Priest in "world Orthodoxy" who subscribes to the notions of "consubstantiation" which certain resister bodies propagate in defining Orthodoxy and "valid Mysteries", and then there's the do it yourself theologies coming out of places like HOCNA: Kalomiros anyone. Glass houses and all that...

the only times i hear of such calamity is when the catholic church makes an appearance a prayer rally, I honestly dont think they realise the severity in dialogue with others that really dont have the same belief and understanding(they in fact are in Heresy, May god help them)
the only other times I hear of Ecumenism is from those traditionalist that somehow are magnetised to the Ecumenism phantasm.....my church and the surrounding church`s do not go past those that seek the Truth and salvation of there souls...to also contribute money to Salvation Army or other organizations that pray with each other is also embracing ecumenism..instead pick a real down and out hobo or homeless family at a soup kitchen and give them a gift certicate from the nearest mcdonalds and or walmart, and you will be doing your part without embracing ecumenism with those organizations that are ecumenist in sheeps clothing
