Perhaps we need a new section?

The resting place of threads that were very valid in 2004, but not so much in 2024. Basically this is a giant historical archive.

Perhaps we need a new section?

Post by Ekaterina »

Fr. Nikolai.....

We seem to be drowning in Russian news articles....Putin this, Putin that, sleazy sensationalist items from Russian sleazy mags, etc. .... makes things real unappetizing. Perhaps we need to have a section just for this type of news?

I am a Russian American, but I came here for the Orthodoxy discussions, not to read Russian news. Personally I like to see unusualy articles about various items. Items that might ultimately effect our faith and the ability to practice it. However, I don't read the Enquirer ot Star Magazine to get this sort of information. The articles being posted are certainly of the type that would appear in such newspapers.

While I have sympathy for the Russian people, I have no desire or illusions about returning to the "homeland", home is where I hang my hat. I have plenty of Russian relations who provided me with better information than these articles do.

So can we section them off in their own little corner?

Thanks,
Katya

The truth is painful to too many. Perhaps people of a certain calibre can acquaint themselves with the description of the heading "MISC." Somehow I'm highly doubtful...LOL!

Let politeness be offered and it will be returned...

This very thread is a provocation aimed as a personal assault to silence me, and some say I lack politeness?! It's tantamount to someone saying shut him up because I don't like what hes saying and other people who agree jumping in.

MISC

It reads:
...Secular news, current events, technical questions and anything else that for one reason or another does not seem to be on-topic on any of the other forums..
What I am illustrating is the supposed "rebirth of Russia" some are touting, and it turns out their contention is more myth than reality and their position is being undermined. Thus, we have acrimony.

And now for another personal assault aimed at me...If you dont like opinion, you can disagree with it. If you cant substantiate a counter-point, you can ignore the opinion you disagree with.

Then what would you call the whole "i'm not interested in 'questionable' Russian news and people who talk about return" backhand and the protest and urge to action?

Misc and Misc....

Post by CGW »

I would be nice if all these news reports were posted in "Misc.", but they are not. It would also be nice if the entire text of these reports were not posted to the forum (out of respect for copyright) but that isn't happening either.

And while we're at it:

Let politeness be offered and it will be returned...

That sentiment is deeply and profoundly unChristian.
