Prayers for Dead Non-Orthodox?

I realize that a dead non-Orthodox may not be prayed for in a Liturgy, but is it allowable for an Orthodox to pray for a non-Orthodox who has died in their own private prayers?

Do you know the answer to my question by chance, though? I would think private prayers for the dead would be fine.

Lol, I suppose I am too (I am RC, but seriously considering converting to Trad EO).
