CONCERNS ABOUT THE EUPHROSYNOS CAFE

The resting place of threads that were very valid in 2004, but not so much in 2024. Basically this is a giant historical archive.

CONCERNS ABOUT THE EUPHROSYNOS CAFE

Post by StephenG »

WHILE I HAVE KNOWN OF AND VISITED THE FORUM OVER SOME CONSIDERABLE TIME, ONLY LATELY HAVE I BEEN ACTIVE. IT HAS GREATLY TROUBLED ME THAT EACH AND EVERY TIME I VISIT THE TRADITIONAL ORTHODOX CHURCHES FORUM, ONE CONTRIBUTOR DOMINATES AND DOES SO IN WHAT APPEARS TO BE VARIATIONS ON A SINGLE THEME. THE CONTINUAL POSTINGS AND WARNINGS ABOUT 'ARCHBISHOP' GREGORY SEEM TO APPEAR DAILY. OTHERS AND I HAVE TRIED TO CHALLENGE THE HEALTHINESS OR SEEMLINESS OF THIS BUT TO NO AVAIL.

THE IMAGE CONVEYED TO NON-ORTHODOX VISITORS OR THOSE WHO ARE NOT OF A 'TRADITIONAL' PERSUASION CAN ONLY BE SPECULATED AT.

SURELY THIS IS A MATTER FOR GOOD AND ACTIVE MODERATORS? DO THE MODERATORS NOT HAVE CONCERNS?

I FEEL SO STRONGLY THAT AN INTERESTING FORUM IS BEING ALLOWED TO BE OVERTAKEN BY A SINGLE INTEREST THAT I WILL REFRAIN FROM USING THE SITE, UNTIL AND UNLESS THINGS CHANGE.

SORRY, BUT TO BE SILENT IS TO CONSENT AND I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE.

SADLY, STEPHEN

A wanderer, trying to discern truth from falsehood

I agree with Stephen. It lowers my spirit whenever I sign on and the majority of the new posts have a scandolous nature to them. Of course, the "if you don't want to know about it, don't read it" argument can be applied, I am on this site because I want an oasis to which I may come and recieve some edification and increase my knowledge of the Faith with like-minded believers. This should be a site that builds up the Church rather than one that tears it down by exposing the tares. Sites like pokrov suffice for that. Surely sometimes something negative may have to be said, but to have one scandolous topic dominate so many threads is more worthy of a National Enquirer tabloid site than an Orthodox cafe........
I am sure Br. Nathaniel means well in seeking to protect others from what he has experienced but it seems that his good intentions have been twisted into an obsession by the hurt he has suffered. These threads are niether spiritually healthy for him, edifying for us, nor a building up of the Church for any guests that come across this site.

With Love,
David Hawthorne

I agree with Stephen and David, this site used to be a nice place to visit. It's not any more. Somebody let the Fox into the hen house and he has spoiled things unbelievably.

I too have begun limiting my visits to this site as a result.

Yeah. This place bites now that it is a platform for Br. Nate's dysfuntional ramblings.

I agree as well, I am fairly new ,but was amazed at how that topic of his ex-Bishop was so, carried on....But our dear friend and s/deacon Nik has a very hard job to do as a moderator of this list, and I think he tried to do the right thing according to our replys and after we started to say somthing about the nonsense of these posts he stepped in and stopped it , so bravo to you Nik for that, but next time a little sooner please........niphon

I would also have to agree. The tale he tells, although sad, would be much better served on "The Jerry Springier Show" not here. I enjoy this forum and the knowledge that comes from the people very much. By the way, lets not forget the good Brothers in ND, that one is getting kind of old too. Anyhow, enough of my ramblings and on to spiritually up-lifting items.
