What does being an Alcoholic have to do with being a Saint? ever heard of the Miraculous Icon of the In-exhastable cup of the Theotokos it has recovered Alcoholics for a long time, even heir-archs,monastics that suffer from this medical disease, have been miraculously treated by Alcohol and even the Holy Apostle James never ever drank Alcohol at all, which might suggest he knew the evil of Alcohol..........
ABOUT SAINT JAMES
The Holy Apostles James along with John, Peter and Paul were considered
to be pillars of the Church. Saint James was the son of Joseph who was
Betrothed by his first wife and therefore is called the brother of the Lord
in the Gospel. According to tradition, the Lord Jesus Christ appeared to
him after His Jesus Resurrection and set him as bishop of Jerusalem.
"Apostle James' ascetic life strengthened his significance even more. He
was a strict virgin, did not drink either wine or other spirituous
beverages, abstained from meat and wore only linen clothing. He had the
custom of going off by himself for prayer, and he would pray for his
people on bended knee. He was so often stretched out on the ground in
prayer that the skin on his knees became calloused."
Good, but the problem of Rasputin is really serious. Some in MP wanted to glorify him (with Ivan the Terrible). The famous Staretz Nikolai (Guryanov) of the MP recognized him as a saint and until he have a "icon" of him. I have listened some person that when St John of Kronstadt saw Rasputin, he said: "allow this rightouos man to come to my." But there if this is true or not (I personally believe that it is a form that they use to legitimate the cult to Rasputin), Rasputin belonged to a heretical sect.
It is unfortunate that most non-orthodox associate all orthodox to Rasputin. Is this what we are really like, speaking as a whole an Orthodox. Rasputin has become somewhat of a poster child of the Orthodox Church is how the world sees it. I could almost see why the MP would believe in this man's pious faith. Ouch.
It isn't only Mp, it is the ROCOR that calls a Holy Man. (Since they were the first to glorify the Royal Family, they called Rasputin a holy man, from what I know) But according to Saint Elizabeth the New Martyr the Grand Duchess, when she became abbess of her Monastery of Saints Martha and Mary, she ended up fighting with her sister, Saint Alexandra, trying to make her realize how evil was this man.

Yes, it is true. I listen a priest ROCOR to defend the "sanctity" of Rasputin, I think that sector more "czarist" of ROCOR sympathize with Rasputin. Although many Saint like St Elizabeth(and others linked to the Real Family) spoke bad of this man.
