I have read accounts of the Saints about what happens at death and this chapter does a comparison between these visions to what these modern after death experiences. The Idea that the being of light is a demon is supported by the Holy Scripture and Father Seraphim Rose brings this out and also other comparisons, with mediums and other spiritualist, dealers of demons.
I remember The Chariot of the Gods and Crash go the Chariots. UFOs are suppose to be visitors from other worlds but there is a comparison between the sittings and Satanism that points to the strong possibility that the sightings were actually demonic illusions.
I know that Satan will do anything to keep anyone from entering Heaven. He will put on a good look that is loving and kind, to bring us to destruction. Let us beware and test the spirits to see if they are of God.
Obviously, Benjamin, the Evil One wants nothing more that us living with him in the next life. The fact that they are appearances of Holiness, is thanks to holy people. Many non spiritual people would believe that they will believe by seeing a vision. Yet, the devil has so much to do to find ways to delude weak souls. Look at Saint Seraphim of Sarov, he spiritually struggled all his life. God made him worthy to see Her only a little before he passed away. By all means, I beg God never to make me able to witness such visions, let His holy will be blessed if it is for our spiritual benefit.
