Kingdom of Heaven - The Movie

Post by Chrysostomos »

Did anyone else, besides myself, go and see the movie?

If so, any comments?

I wrote an entry in my blog today on it.

It was completely void of any spiritual depth on the part of the Christians. The priests said, Kill an infidel and go to heaven. Which I would have thought would have come from the lips of a Moslem instead.
The Bishops were not protrayed any better. One stated, convert to Islam, repent later.

The battle scenes were fantastic, and so it was entertaining.

What really surprised me was that even going into battle, none of the characters made the sign of the cross. As a matter of fact, I never saw once, anyone make the sign of the cross ever. Oh, the lead kissed his sword, but that was it.

No scenes of liturgy, any religious service or any discussion of a "christian" nature, referring to Christ. At least what we would consider Orthodox. I know, I was really grasping for something if I expected that! :P

I purposely went as I wanted to see how "Hollywood" would portray the "Crusades". I was hoping it would be historical somewhat, but I was wrong - it wasn't. It was a very politically correct movie. Too bad it didn't have more truth in it. Shame.

If you want, go to my blog and read some other links that had some interesting info.

Looking forward to any and all responses.

Your fellow struggler in Christ,

Rd. Chrysostomos
