I would like to make two points about this:

1) The idea that Metropolitan Valentinos is arrested and in a Russian jail is fairly spectacular. This demands some evidence besides someone just saying it for it to rise up and out of the realm of useless rumor.

2) If it is true, so what. DS themselves have long acknowledged that Met. Valentinos was the subject of harassment by the Russian government because he is against the MP.

The latest position of Gregory of DS is quite fantastic, and will not be a tenable position for long. While I can understand his logic, that the entire synod is with him (except for Met. Valentinos) because he has not technically received actual signatures on paper but only copies, I do not think it is good logic.

Gregory, in his many escapades, has always focused on one person in each scandal he was involved. With Archbishop Chyrsostom II it was then Archmandrite Pavlos; with the Lamians it was Niphon; now with ROAC it is Met. Valentinos. I wonder if it has possibly occurred to Gregory that the entire Synod of the ROAC practices baptism the same way Met. Valentinos does? And that they all have a similar ecclesiology with regards to other “traditionalists”? And that they all knew about and agreed that Fr. Vladimir should administer North America? And does Gregory ever wonder why he was made Bishop of Colorado, which is a ridiculously small geographic area completely empty of any ROAC churches? This is tantamount to saying, “you can be Bishop, but only to yourself.” The point is, the entire synod mush have been cautious with Gregory, no doubt for a reason.

So Gregory focuses his wrath on Met. Valentinos today because he stood in his way of being bishop of North America. Or are we to believe Gregory is willing to turn a blind eye to all of the same “errors” by all of the other bishops for no reason?

Gregory has brought me new appreciation as to why the Roman Empire exiled bishops to remote islands.

Something like that would have actually made the Russian secular news media, because love him or hate him, they all know Metr Valentine and the MP would love to announce something like that through their own organs.

The truth is that Dormition Skete used cheap phrasing ("in the custody of the Russian Government") to find a sleazy way of saying "Metropolitan Valentine is in the country". And they were likely directed to do so.

This is nothing more than a new Cabal trying to run an offensive. I am writing a report on it.

That's a very clever answer-- it could still mean you are with the schism, as their clergy would know quite well that they are in opposition to the Sobor.
