The christian Family

The Christian family

The family is a fortress which the enemy of mankind never tires of attacking. A divided family is a terrible thing. The Lord says: “And if a house should be divided, such a house cannot stand.” The main condition for the unity of the family and for the stability of the spiritual principles instilled in children is mutual love. Let us guard the loving unity of our family. Let us remember and fulfill primarily within our family the commandment of the Lord that is first in importance and latest in time: “Love one another as I have loved you” (John 13:34).

The one who loves sincerely does not live for himself, but for those whom he loves: his feelings and thoughts are dedicated exclusively to the lives of the loved ones. Love is stronger than death, and there is nothing that can overcome it.

The Vatican has issued a statement I believe relating to this issue, citing feminism as fostering conflict between men and women, undermining the family. etc., etc. I do not have the text to hand but this may one statement I have no quarrell, but it will arouse the wrath of many including Tony Blair wife, and his government colleagues, among others...........

Anyone know more?

I believe this is the Vatican document you speak of:

http://www.zenit.org/english/visualizza.phtml?sid=57636

I am going to read it tonight and post my thoughts tomorrow.

God Bless!

On a side note I would like to hear from the Orthodox church on this matter.

Funny how things fall into place. I never meant the post to bring to mind some sort of Vatican "feminist" diatribe. Rather my intention was to remind us here in this post that we are all members of a Orthodox Family. And as family we needed to remember what that means.

I really don't give two hoots about what the Vatican thinks and as far as feminists go....Why on earth should I as a woman lower myself? Really!
