The ROAC situation.

First, (believe it or not)... my heart and prayers go out to those of you in ROAC facing some serious questions right now. I commend the strength of Fr. Dionysi and Matushka Christine, and those with them who would sacrifice personal security before becoming 'yes men' to Gregory. I'm very interested to know though- if remaining with Met. Valentine, does this not signal a change in ecclesiology? Particulary, if it is true, in regards to the MP being grace filled? Of course , I hope it does indicate a change of mind, or at least a re-evaluation of the question. Any thoughts?

"Yes, men." What a disgusting phrase. We in a sense are all "yes, men" to Jesus Christ. We must follow Him in spite of all the sufferings and sacrifices of this life. I would not want to stand before the Judgement Bar of God and say such thing about a consecrated and confirmed Orthodox Archepiscopos. I would be afraid...with much fear and trembling.

Matushka Christina, someone as close as it gets to the situation, originally used the phrase "yes men" in a recent post to this forum. Keeping in context with her post, I reused it.

While I do think that it needs to be discussed (not argued--but facts discussed in a civil way), it would be nice to discuss the faith and practice of the Church on the great majority of threads...

But why? The synod will make the decision and the faithful of ROAC will follow that decision.

Highy personal discussions here will not have an impact on that (at least I HOPE not)

Because knowing why the Synod makes the decision that it makes can help avoid scandal. If they are very forgiving of someone, or very harsh, it will help to know why. That, and the fact that the laity should know what is going on in the body of Christ, since each of us (even the most sinful laymen) are truly and wholly connected with all the other "cells" in that body. The laity are one of the last, but certainly one of the largest, lines of defense against sickness in the body of Christ. The bishops and clergy should be defending the body... but the laity must also play their own part, and it's a part that they cannot play if they have covered their ears so as to pray better. Sometimes you have to get a little muddy; sometimes what is "spiritual" turns out being paying attention to what seems "political" or "Bishops business". Or so I think.
