The City (Constantinople) became on this day in 330 AD, the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire.

Sorry, Demetri, I had a choking fit when first I saw your response.

Civil calendar not Church calendar, of course............. (When visiting Greece I never referred to New or Old Calendar rather preferring the terms Civil and Church. It certainly evoked some interesting responses).

Thank you for bringing a little colour to my grey face today.

P.s. It also avoids me having to explain to certain others who Julia was!
