My pet peeves

Post by Methodius »

  1. Women who can't do prostrations because they have a small tight skirt on with high heeled shoes. Its not a fashion show ladies, weat a long full skirt and comfortable shoes like you are supposed to!

  2. Women who won't do prostrations because they are afraid a man will see up their skirt. If the women would all stand on the women's side of the church and the men on the men's this wouldn't be a problem, now would it?

Sorry, just had to vent. I know I should just be happy that so many people come to the Great Canon of Saint Andrew.

it's okay to vent sometimes. things like this annoy me also. people should always come to church well prepared and when they don't it is rude and bothersome. dress appropriately and be prepared spiritually for the holy sacrament. there is a custom I have heard of where everyone in church wears a large black coat to not bring vannity into the church. this is perhaps a good idea.

I agree with Methodius. If women would only dress in a modest fashion and not in a fashion to attract attention while in church. Unfortunately, the concept of modesty is lost on many today.

Modesty is needed, as is adherence to the rules

Maybe you could just send them to this site:

Have you discussed this with your priest? Perhaps he does not realize people are not prostrating for these reasons, since he is prostrating at the same time?

Ok, now that we got that out of our systems, we can go back to introspection, no? :)

... which isn't to say that the issue shouldn't be discussed... but we can keep a distance and talk in general, can't we? :) Let's stay positive /\

Yea, O Lord King, grant me to see mine own failings and not to condemn my brother for blessed art thou unto the ages of ages. Amen

Good point Paradosis. I am sorry if I failed in not being general but it is an issue that needs to be discuss with humility and love(two things I fail to have).
