"Commerical sponsor" is a bit of a spin. What I read in the article is that a company is requesting a moleben. If one of the people on this site who opened, say, an internet church supply store, wanted a priest to hold a moleben for the success of his company and its clients, would you say, "Oh, that's commercial sponsorship?" Wouldn't you, in fact, encourage him to do something like hold a moleben?

Or do the canons permit only individuals to request special needs services?

Very well. I still hope, let's say Coca-Cola, doesn't sponsor regular services for some reason; I guess it would have a NASCAR type feel...

Well, I'd agree with you on that - especially if the sponsors started hanging their banners in the church. :roll: This Liturgy brought to you by (enter company name here).
