Is Met. Philaret a Saint?

I heard about, I think, about them opening his coffin and such, and starting to begin to glorify him as one. Is he already a Saint? I'm just asking because I saw his icon avatar when I was switching my profile avatar.

I believe he is not only a saint, but a great saint already glorified in Heaven, and ask for his intersession privately. However, he is not yet glorified by my bishops (ROCOR) so he is still ''Blessed Metropolitan Philaret'' to me.

Valentina, There is aconversation on this topic somewhere in the arhives of this site. I do know that the ROAC has glorified (St.) Metropolitan Philaret. I am unsure if any other jurisdiction has or not. I will try and look for that other thread for you. It was very interesting.

Truly, Justin! Archbishop Averky and Leonty have my vote! And many of the ROCOR venerate them too! (I remember Metropolitan Paul of America, has a photo of Archbishop Averky in his office too!)

I believe that one of the differences among one who true orthodox Christian and who is not it, it is the attitude toward Sanctity of St Philaret. For that reason it is that the hierarches of ROCOR Lavr didn't accept such a Sanctity. This thing would be to reject the Patriarchate. Because MP anathematized to St Philaret.
