Church head calls for restoration of monarchy | 21:46 | Beta

BELGRADE -- Friday - The Serbian Orthodox Church believes that Serbia's
monarchy should be restored and that other decisions imposed under tyranny
in 1945 should be reversed by those responsible, the head of the Church,
Patriarch Pavle said today.

In a letter to Aleksandar Karadjordjevic, the pretender to the throne, the
patriarch said that restoration would create the conditions to heal the
society and the state and to establish the rule of law for a final victory
of justice.
"In recent history, the past two hundred years, the Karadjordjevic dynasty
played a very special role," said Patriarch Pavle.

That's a funny post. I agree that he is pretender. I have a video from Serbia celebrating St. Vitus Day and our defeat by the Turks (yes, we CELEBATE it), and the "royal" family make a guest appearance. All the people are ranting and chanting "WE WANT A KING! WE WANT A KING!" like idiots. And the guy gets up there and addresses the crowd in the worst Serbian accent I have ever heard. It made me want to vomit. He can't even speak the language and you want him for your King?
Where was he when Muslims and Catholics were ethnically(actually religiously) "cleansing" Bosnia and Hercegovina from 1992-1996? Where was he when NATO was bombing Orthodox Christians on Palm Sunday? Tucked away in his palace in the EU, that's where. Your post re-affirms my desire to never live in Yugoslavia, and maybe not even ever visit.

It isn't about one person, but the restoration of the Traditional order of Serbian government. You could lay the same accusations against the disappointing kostunica.

I wouldn't worry too much about all that. What is the greatest fear is civil war. But ultimately, at this time, what can keep what's left of Serbia together is the monarchy and the Church. The two working together is the only solution the west cannot undo.

For all you royalists out there who also heed the advice of our dear Patriarch Pavle...what side then did the monarchy take when the Serbian church split? The RASKOLJNICI, that's who! I have a documentary at my house from the consecration of the New Gracanica Church/Metropolitante where our Prince, King whatever he is, is the honorary KUM! How then could Pavle endorse a schismatic Serb as a leader? After all to side with New Gracanica acknowledges the Pec Patriarchate as having communist ties. Can one be both for and against the patriarchate? DOn't think so.
