Really Need help with thesis!! (topic is russian revolution)

Hey everyone, I'm doing my world history class essay on the Russian Revolution. My research question is "What were the causes of the downfall of the reign of Nicholas II?"

I have to develop a thesis from this question and have to find three main causes of the downfall. I THINK I got two...not sure if this would be right. In the books Ive been reading, it says how he was an autocrat and how he had "absolute authority" or something, and under his reign there was a lot of poverty. I guess I will go into detail on that. And the other one was the October Manifesto.

Well anyways, I was wondering if anyone knows any really good sites with any info on this? I;'m gonna post this on the youth board too. Thanks a lot everyone! (PS this is due tomorrow so if anyone replies quickly, it would be really appreciated!) THANKS!

Orthodox 2. Opressed& didn't join free maisons, 3. Pressure to modernize the country, 4. Illness of HIH Alexey Nikolaevich, 6. politics of few countries that did all they could to destroy Royal family of Russia...
LOL! Oh, if u would have posted it a week ago, I would have written extencivelly on this subject and provite tonnes of books/internet/journals refferences...

Thanks so much for replying. I did leave it till last minute. I do that with everything :S. The good thing is that Im not writing the actual paper for tomorrow. All I need is a thesis statement (the most challenging part probably) 3 criteria (list the 3 arguments supporting your thesis) and an annotated bibilography. Not too shabby so I think I can handle

The t hing is, most of my sources imply that Nicholas was a weak leader, he was an autocrat and caused poverty in Russia (he was too stubborn to listen to his parliament when he did have one or something?) and things like he had a secret police which resisted anyone opposing the czar. Basicaly, all my sources are stating that he was the bad one. Now, It's not like Im an expert on the topic so I cant really tell. But I know some of the things you are saying (ex Orthodoxy etc) are true. I cant really find any sources to support this though. I was thinking of basically finding evidence of him causing the downfall (though I know its not all true) because it is easier to find evidence on that. What I am also finding is how the peasants and working class were joining (or beliving the ideas) of the socialist parties and that blah blah.....they rioted, protested etc and before you know it, the czar was abdicated. Blah....maybe this is going to be worse than I thought.

Unles you can give me any good internet sources about it not being his fault, that would be good. Also, any evidence supporting that it was his fault would also help becuase I will look through the sites and judge on which would "side" would be easier to research on. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Do you have msn messenger by any chance? Maybe it will be easier to communicate by that.

You know, I just thought about it and would really love to prove all these stupid sources that only are against the czar wrong!! Blah.I might never get this done. You see when I developed my research question, I had to find biliography for that and all of my sources were pretty much against the czar because it was the most that I could find. And one site that I fouind (it was a site with a girls essay on it) Her ideas supported the czar but they were kind of bland (or maybe I jsut dont know enough about these arguements?) I dont know but they were basically about the Rasputin scandal (like, maybe it would have angered Russians but what else can I write) and how the Czar trusted unfit counselors and such. Probably true, but again, I cant find any real supporting evidence. Ah well look at me, I just wrote my 3rd reply within 10 minutes lol. Ill just wait for yours and see. Thanks
