Scary !! I immensely dislike Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan anyway
"BREAKING: Bishop Mkrtich Proshyan, head of the Aragatsotn Diocese, has been arrested, and Armenia’s Investigative Committee is currently taking him into custody. The Committee has filed criminal charges accusing him of “influencing public gatherings” and “affecting voting results,” charges his defense calls entirely fabricated.
Lawyer Ara Zohrabyan confirmed that Proshyan had been held at the Investigative Committee all day without any contact allowed. “These accusations are political and part of an ongoing anti-Church campaign,” Zohrabyan said, adding that Nikol Pashinyan’s government is now seeking pre-trial detention, as it did with other arrested clergy.
Today, according to available information, the head of the Aragatsotn Diocese and twelve priests of the diocese have been detained:

Rev. Fr. Hayk Kocharyan,
Rev. Fr. Mkrtich Yeranyan,
Rev. Fr. Manuk Zeynalyan,
Rev. Fr. Ghevond Gapoyan,
Rev. Fr. Hayk Sahakyan,
Rev. Fr. Sargis Sargsyan,
Rev. Fr. Garegin Arsenyan,
Rev. Fr. Narek Sargsyan,
Rev. Fr. Oshin Hayrapetyan,
Fr. Vrtanes Baghalyan,and Rev. Fr. Hambardzum Danielyan., were taken from their homes after searches. Lay employees of the diocese were also detained. Father Paren Arakelyan was later released after seven hours of questioning, during which no investigative actions were carried out.
The persecution of the Armenian Apostolic Church has sharply intensified. Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, head of the Tavush Diocese and leader of the Sacred Struggle movement, remains imprisoned after being charged with plotting a coup and acts of terrorism. Archbishop Mikael Ajapahyan, head of the Shirak Diocese, is also under prosecution for alleged calls to overthrow the constitutional order.
Nikol Pashinyan and his circle claim these figures are part of a “criminal oligarchic network” seeking to destabilize the country.
In reality, this is a state-orchestrated campaign by Pashinyan and his team to dismantle the Armenian Apostolic Church, weaken its influence, and silence dissenting clergy through intimidation, fabricated cases, and politically motivated arrests."
