Bp Pimen [Belolikov] of Verny, Kazakhstan

Post by Barbara »

This is the Tsarist name for Alma Ata, Verny. The Bishop's title was actually "of Vernensk and Semirechia".
My question is : this hierarch was recognized as a New Martyr by the MP - and the OCA>
It seems Rocor-MP does not recognize him ? Or was he included in the list of New Martyrs and Confessors canonized by
Ever-memorable St Philaret of New York and attending clergy ?

All I have about this hierarch is the following : he was the first Bishop of Vernensk and he was a spiritual son of St John of Kronstadt. Apparently he was friendly with New Hieromartyr Andronik of Perm who was glorified by Rocor and is quite respected. This Bp Pimen led the Urmieh mission in the north of what was then called Persia, seemingly, if I got that information correctly.
Then the prelate was sent to Kazakhstan to head this diocese but was shot by the Bolsheviks on this day in 1918.

I have no further details than these about this Bishop Pimen. I thought I would ask because it is September 3/16, the day on which he is honored by the MP & OCA. What about anybody else ?

What about the attitude of our TOCs - does anyone by chance know ?

I don't know either Barbara. It is a detail of history, I think, so maybe not well known or perhaps there is no particular position...
