Bulgarian Church and Ecumenism

Post by Savva24 »

I found the below on the official website for the Church of Greece (New Calendar). I once proposed the theory on this list that churches are participating in Ecumenism mainly for the reason of wordly gain and financial help in their poverty and trials. Now I think that this is true and am convinced that it is all about money. I feel that for very few it really is about reconciling ''sister churches'' or unifiying Christianity or anything so profound; I think it really just boils down to the mighty dollar. Selling Orthodoxy out for the dollar  .

In Christ,

Nicholas

Bulgarian Church expected to rejoin Ecumenism

In an interview given to Bulgarian National Radio Prof. Emer. Todor Subev, former lecturer at the Sofia Theological Academy and vice General Secretary of the World Council of Churches, said that by leaving the ecumenical movement the Bulgarian Orthodox Church distanced itself from ecclesiastical Europe. He added that the loss was not only social but economic as well because the church lost the opportunity to receive at least 5 million Euro in development and preservation programmes. Subev hopes that the church will restore its membership in the WWC.

I think it's two-fold

While I agree that the worship of Mammon is a part of this, I think there is also a pseudo-intellectual element in the leadership of world Orthodoxy (along with a more covert, perhaps outright masonic element) which does see these matters along ideological/doctrinal grounds. For example, there are many things coming out of the MP right now (regarding branch-ecclessiology and the status of the Jews) which sound exactly like a page right out of the "revised" Catholicism of the post-Vatican II RCC.

Whether it is by simple greed, intellectual conceit, or outright satanic involvement, the end is all of the same - the creation of the "religion of the future", the "church" of all men and all religions, the "church of the anti-Christ" in which all will be allowed to be called "God", so long as this pre-eminantly includes satan himself.
