Greetings,
In my quest for finding out the exact/close to 'group' of Russian Orthodoxy I came from, I put out this question. All the reading I have is intense and very confusing to sort through. Maybe there's a computer program out there that can line it all up for me . Anyways, I was baptized in 1953 with the seal of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad on my birth certificate. Being that they became ROCOR (here in the west or were they at the same time?) a few decades later, being that they joined MP in 2007, can anyone enlighten me a bit?
On the current main ROCOR site, I found the long-time reposed priest's name being thanked for his service. Back in 1953 Russia, weren't ROCOR still part of the good guys or were they already absorbed by Stalin and the boys? Nobody remains alive at my church of baptizm and attendance, so there's no one to ask. Since my church was operating as 'ROCA' (as on the stamp/seal on my birth certificate), can I assume that they were against the MP policies at that time. I remember most of the congregation being commie haters however; there was a few folks I would name as part of an 'inteligensia' who I had doubts about.
