STOC Church-Laity Council: Resolution for the Consecration of New Bishop

Session of STOC Church-Laity Council

During its session on the 23rd of October, 2013,the Church-Laity Council, as the highest governing body of the Serbian True Orthodox Church, made the resolution to establish two eparchies of the Serbian TOC: The Paraclete Eparchy and the Shumadia Eparchy. The Council chose Bishop Akakije (Stankovich) for The Paraclete Eparchy and Nektarije (Ivankovich) for the Shumadia Eparchy.

The consecration of HieromonkNektarije (Ivankovich) will be performed with the brotherly help and participation of the hierarchs of the sister Russian TOCon Sunday, October 27, 2013, on feastday of The Lower Paraclete monastery’s patron saint, the Venerable Mother Catherine of Lesna.

What's the reason for this new bishop? Was one not enough for the flock that I imagine to be not so numerous?

The flock has grown, as well as the number of parishes and monastic communities, and there is a need for a 2nd bishop.

I am so happy to hear this news of the consecration. Are there photos ? Perhaps I have missed them if posted already.

It's fabulous that STOC is expanding. Thank God that people are waking up, everywhere.
We have to pray for much more of this awareness to spread.
