Roman Catholicism - the originator of Name-Worshipping?

Post by Maria »

Orthodox Christianity is the only One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church as she believes in the Faith once delivered by Christ to His Apostles for all peoples and all times.

Through "developing doctrines," Roman Catholicism has lost the claim of being the "Catholic Church" as she no longer believes in the unchanging faith once delivered by Christ for all times and for all peoples. Not only have papal powers been expanded to include papal supremacy and papal infallibility at Vatican I in 1870, but also beliefs in Christ and the Theotokos have changed through private revelations to include beliefs in Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Holy Name of Jesus, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Thus, it is most likely that devotions to the Holy Name of Jesus have given rise to the Name-Worshipping Heresy that is now infecting World Orthodoxy and even clergy and bishops in True Orthodoxy.

I am quoting the following prayers from the Holy Name Society, a Catholic Fraternity under the direction of the Dominican Order.

  • The Golden Arrow

May the most holy, most sacred, most adorable, most mysterious and unutterable Name of God be always praised, blessed, loved, adored and glorified in heaven on earth and under the earth, by all the creatures of God, and by the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ in the most Holy Sacrament of the altar.

This prayer is said to have been revealed by Jesus Himself to a Carmelite Nun of Tours in 1843 as a reparation for blasphemy. "This Golden Arrow will wound My Heart delightfully," He said, "and heal the wounds inflicted by blasphemy."

Notice that this prayer states, "May the most holy, most sacred, most adorable, most mysterious and unutterable Name of God be always ... adored ...by the Sacred Heart of our Lord Jesus Christ..." :ohvey:

In other words, Our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ adores His Holy Name? How can this be?

Then there is this prayer from the same page:

  • Jesus, Name full of glory, grace, love and strength! You are the refuge of those who repent, our banner of warfare in this life, the medicine of souls, the comfort of those who morn, the delight of those who believe, the light of those who preach the true faith, the wages of those who toil, the healing of the sick.

To You our devotion aspires; by You our prayers are received; we delight in contemplating You. O Name of Jesus, You are the glory of all the saints for eternity. Amen.

It is true that "at the Name of Jesus every knee shall bow," because we adore Christ, not His Name. If we adored the name of Jesus, then every boy and man named Jesus or Jesse in the Spanish world would be adored. When we adore His Holy Cross, we are not adoring the wood, but Christ whom the Cross represents. Otherwise all symbols that resemble the Holy Cross would be adored, and Ebay would be busy and profitable.

Since Christ Jesus is the Almighty God, how can it be that there is a "Name full of glory, grace, love and strength."

p.s. I am not a theologian, but I have studied theology in college and I am a linguist.
Our language, according to Noam Chomsky, is innate and has infinite possibilities.
But a word or a name does not have power or glory by itself. That sounds too much like the magic found in Harry Potter.

Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner.
