Statement
Some members of this forum already have some idea of my identity; but most do not know me at all. My name is Nadir and I am a Catholic, Italian born, but living in Australia since 1981. I joined this forum, after a short deliberation and thinking that, I found the right place where I could relate to and so contribute in the best way I know of. My interest, apart from religion, of course, are various such as politics, banking system, education, health issues, and so on.
First, I have to congratulate with the webmaster of this website for the good presentation and design. Then I have to thank you the administrators to have add my name to the number of participants of this forum.

As a new member of this forum though I have noticed that not everything is, as it seems to be at first sight. I will explain it. Initially, I thought that all issues were open to discussion, in moderation and in Christian Orthodox fashion - following some established guideline, of course. However, it seems to me hat some topics are taboo such as the Jewish issue or everything related to it. An example is the following: Islam, fascism and the New Age [now locked] and Excellent Critique of Anti-Jewish Sentiments and Claims, in which some of the participants do their best to sugar coating the all issue in order not to offend our “brother and sisters” or lest to be accuse of anti-Semitism.
Therefore, if this is the hidden trend of this forum to put a break to any honest critic on the aforementioned topic, I feel that I am not entirely free to express myself.

In Christ our Lord.

Maranatha,
Nadir

This thread has been moved from Board News into Controversial Politics and Social Issues. Please post topics that are polemical either in Intra-TOC Polemics (those dealing with TOC jurisdictions) or into Controversial Politics and Social Issues.

Nadir,

Welcome. I am from a Roman Catholic background too. My perception, as an old member, is that I see too much worldly controversial discussions. I joined here because of the intense Orthodox discussions, but now it seems that most of it is about jurisdictions and conspiracies. I knew about them, but I never brought them up here. It seems that the newer members (from 2 yrs) are the ones posting them. Now people are posting about aliens, politics and such. If we discussed about Jews and Muslims, it was in the Biblical context.

I feel it takes away our remembrance in uniting in our Orthodox faith. The focus should be Orthodoxy so that seekers of the truth can get involved in conversations that will help them learn about the Orthodox faith.

We know what the problems are in the world. But, some of us take a different approach. The Orthodox mentality is not of this world. I suggest that you give it a year and get the feel of the place. Please don't make judgements of people you barely know.

There's no hidden trend. You won't get any more honest or truthful answers than here. Did you have any questions about Orthodoxy? I would love to discuss all the RC errors and innovations and pretty much completely wrong theology.

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (Ps. 50)

Dear Nadir,

The locked thread you referenced here in Controversial Politics was closed because two members were engaged in a heated debate. Had that debate remained calm, there would have been no reason to lock it.

I hope this answers your questions.

Nadir, I would be interested to know how you define the "Jewish issue."
Perhaps some posters would be mindful that if a Jewish person finds this forum and wants to learn about Orthodox Christianity, how he would respond if he reads the same old conspiracy theories about a vast international Jewish mafia taking over the world.

I was not aware that what I have written was making a judgement on anyone of this forum. I was merely commenting on the way some issues were dealt, first, by the participants and later by the moderator. However, if by saying what I said, I have offended anyone, then I apologise.

Therefore, if this is the hidden trend of this forum to put a break to any honest critic on the aforementioned topic, I feel that I am not entirely free to express myself.

Not for the moment, I do not have any question about Orthodoxy. Then about discussing about RC [I assume you mean, Roman Catholicism] it is my guiding principle not to discuss my Catholic faith with people, who do not know my background and, ultimately, whom I do not know either, in particular, where they stand politically and culturally – by saying this, I do not mean, which party you vote for. In the past, I have had enough arguments with people of protestant background to start now again with you.

God Bless
Nadir

Dear Maria,
Perhaps, I making too much out of this. However, because of your gentle response, I feel I own you a reply in kind.

I did not see it on that way. I only considered one of the two main opponents a bit too wordy for my liking. That is all.
