Latest firm statement from Rocor-MP on strange personnel and adherents issued today.
It's really a good idea that they are cracking down on these semi-disreputable types.
Though politics is not referred to here, still, it is wise to make it clear that Brother Nathanael's
slavishly pro-Moscow politics have nothing to do with - probably - the average Rocor-MP old-timer.
One can imagine that many clergy and mature laity do not subscribe to the flowery pro-Put. and pro-Kirill statements
taught to his followers by the traveling salesman, Brother Nathanael. After all, they were raised on quite the opposite belief system !
He may be an internet sensation, but some of his antics are so kooky that no dignified Orthodox jurisdiction
would want to claim him as a member of their flock.
It seems to me as an independent observer, that Nathanael is constantly soliciting money for his personal cause, though never to my knowledge for any substantial Orthodox Charity cause. He shouldn't be cashing in on the Rocor-MP name as a springboard to appear as a legitimate monk
in good standing, therefore attracting major donations.
If donors were aware of the shakiness of his claim to be a real monk, they may decide not to risk their money, for example.
Hence, clarification was definitely in order :

"Statement from the Chancery of the Synod of Bishops
The Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia has recently received repeated complaints about the activities of and statements made by a certain Nathanael (Kapner), who lives on the territory of the Western American Diocese, but has no relation to it.
The clergymen and laity of the Russian Church Abroad are hereby informed that the actions of Nathanael (Kapner) do not have the blessing of the Synod of Bishops.
Profoundly saddened by the state of his soul, we call upon Nathanael (Kapner) to refrain from posting on the Internet, to a life of repentance of peace in Christ, “where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all” (Colossians 3:11).
+KYRILL,
Archbishop of Western America and San Francisco
Secretary of the Synod of Bishops.
