I think many good piety-filled women look for a man with a beard if they want a good Orthodox husband. Would the other women agree?

I don't. :-) Granted people would probably say that I'm superficial in that I don't like a lot of facial hair on guys, but, that's the way I am. Also, I want to look for someone who's kind, well-mannered, a good sence of humor, as well as being Orthodox, though around here it's rather hard to find someone who's Orthodox, so I'll go for the first 3 & hope to convert him later. Besides, I've been around clergy all my life, all with beards, & let me tell ya, the beard doesn't a good man make.
Toodles,
Ania

For me, an Orthodox man with a beard is a plus, or at least with the startings of a beard because I love beards! Though, that's not the only thing I looked for in a guy. :)

All this talk of beards makes me wish I could grow one. But alas, I am in the same boat with Seraphim. I have tried to grow it out before, but I have several areas where there is no growth and it looks awful, so I had to shave it off. I will be 24 in a couple weeks and I am losing hope that it will ever grow in properly.

Still beardless,
Aaron

Yes my husband will be 28 in February but no beard. He can grow a Confucious style (really spread apart) mustache but only about 30 hairs on the chin. I wish he could but it's not really a big deal if he's UNABLE. He jokes and tells me that's why he can never be a deacon.

What about women shaving? Is there anything canonical or Biblical regarding this? In my husband's country, former Yugoslavia, only MUslim women shaved and we Serbians did not. Anybody know why? We have some cousins now that STILL don 't shave, but most of my generation here in America do. I wish I never started.

In Christ,
Tessa

You could at least grow a mustache, can't you.
