An excellent article by Johannes Zachhuber, (who is possibly the greatest living authority on Christology), on the Christology of John of Damascus. Alois Grillmeier still holds the crown as the greatest authority on Christology in many peoples minds, but; while he's top-notch, I find his work to be a little dated.

Grillmeier gives a devastating critique of Severus's self-contradictory attacks on orthodoxy. Brian E. Daley SJ, a student of Grillmeier who also did a DPhil at Oxford with a dissertation/edition of Leontius of Byzantium, is still alive at Notre Dame and is publishing updated essays and books. Grey's book says that Leontius of Jerusalem was sometimes sloppy with sources (which comment Miaphysites quote). But Gray's detailed footnotes shown that many of the diphysite quotations were authentically patristic. Grey, I believe, supports Chalcedon and thinks Severus was wrong. The quotations in Lampe and in Erhan's and others' YouTube videos totally disprove the lies of Miaphysite propaganda (Kakish, Agen, priests) about pre-Cyril fathers. These fathers used more diphysite language than miaphysite language. ALL REAL SCHOLARS ACCEPT THAT THE MAINSTREAM DOCTRINE WAS THAT DEITY AND HUMANITY PERSIST AS TWO WITHIN ONE PERSON. Cyril also witnessed to this, but used "physis" with multiple meanings. REAL SCHOLARSHIP IS OVERWHELMINGLY AGAINST ANTI-CHALCEDONIAN ONLINE PROPAGANDA. Haralampopoulos has consistently failed to engage with the countless diphysite quotations from Holy Fathers that are out there (several of which have been posted here and they are also in books posted in PDF by Haralampopoulos himself). Most of the diphysite quotations are overwhelmingly accepted as authentic by a consensus of real scholars of patrology and many of the most important monophysite quotes (Irenaeus, Ps-Julian, Ps-Athanasius) are misinterpreted (Irenaeus) or overwhelmingly considered by experts to be Appolinarian forgeries.
