Laughably absurd thesis going around the internet !
Some social media accounts are claiming that Putin is also a Romanov heir...!

The survival of Grand Duchess Anastasia, youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas II, was a crazy theory supported by no valid claimant, despite the prolonged attempts of a number of imposters.

Even as late as the 1950s, a few women were giving interviews to the press, writing supposed memoirs of their purported life as the Tsar's daughter.

All were thoroughly debunked. Relatives of the Romanovs, for example, members of the Hesse family who had known the young Grand Duchess well, met one or two these claimants and affirmed that these were not the real Anastasia, but merely mentally ill or gold-diggers - or both !

This is the latest spin on that early-to-mid 20th century sensationalistic headline-grab. The connection likewise can not be based on anything beyond Melania's Slavic features

That by itself is ridiculous, because the Tsar and his family were entirely German [and Danish due to his mother, Marie Feodorovna, born Princess Dagmar of Denmark]
The last Tsar [until any future ones] had only a tiny fraction of Russian blood.

This was due to generations of Romanov intermarriage with princesses from the German princely states. Aside : bad choice in my opinion, as i have written a few times on this site.

The Romanovs should have married into the Catholic families of Europe instead of the Protestant ones.
