Fascinating ! Thank you Thomas, I appreciate that survey. The name struck me as different but I couldn't figure out what it was. I didn't think she would go to some neighborhood church, so that makes sense from that point of view to go to the Abp of Athens' cathedral church.

Oh i just realized that Palm Sunday was celebrated the same day by most Orthodox, even New Calendarists. I forgot ! That was my confusion on that point.

Now you have described this revised Julian calendar setup that the state Church of Greece has. OK, that helps a lot. I really don't know much at all about them.

Is Holy Annunciation a visually imposing church ? Or fairly regular Greek style, just a little grander maybe considering the official functions being held there.

Do we have information about St Philothei of Athens on this site ? I would like to know more about her. I'll check later. If you have any material, please post it when you have a chance, even on this thread would be good to uplift all the readers !

Well maybe by virtue of her being buried in that edifice, people who attend will FEEL SOMETHING and become more traditional without their even realizing what influenced them !

Wow, the Greek police were nasty to attack the protestors like that.
Reminds me of the treatment of the Old Calendarist monks on Mt Athos.

Note the connection with the infamous Abp Elpidophoros of the GOARCH [Greek Orthodox Church of America] in this AI summary :

"As of April 2026, Kimberly Guilfoyle, the U.S. Ambassador to Greece (assuming office in Nov 2025), has shown significant interest in and connection to the Greek Orthodox Church, with some reports referencing her as a "convert" or in the process of learning about the faith.

Key details regarding this topic include:

Active Engagement: Following her appointment as Ambassador, she expressed a desire to learn more about the Greek Orthodox Church, noting that she is a "deeply religious person".

Cultural & Religious Visits: In November 2025, she met with Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens and All Greece, noting he was the first person she called after being nominated. She later marked Palm Sunday with a visit to an Orthodox site in April 2026.
[But she attended NO Church for Orthodox Easter, apparently]

Spiritual Recognition: She has been described as an "Orthodox Christian convert" in local Greek media reporting during her time as Ambassador, particularly in relation to her participation in religious ceremonies.

Background: She was raised Roman Catholic. [She attended Mercy High School in San Francisco, now closed, since 2020]

Connections: She has close ties with Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, who has presented her with icons and engaged with her on religious freedom issues"

Comments about the pictures she showed about her visit to the Holy Annunciation church in Athens :

"Notice the red Cabala bracelet on the tall dude next to her. They are all a part of it"

"Thankfully she came equipped for Greece’s polar climate.
